Am I in a "cool hall " or what?

From the circuit I was formerly in, there were a dozen couples from several congregations who regularly attended meetings and FS. Undetected for years they had rager parties with alcohol and drugs, trips to Vegas, partner swapping, hookers, strippers, porn, etc. They operated under the code see nothing say nothing and if ever confronted...deny deny deny.

Half of them are still in, some reconciled after very public affairs. Some became single and dove into the organization full throttle after DFings and reinstatement.

I believe the double life acted as a narcotic of sorts for them but in the end a lot of them found themselves broken, sticky and confused. The ones that escaped seem to be doing well. At least the facade is no longer a burden to them.

Seems like way to much effort to me to stay in an organization that offers nothing but half truths and blatant lies.

    To each his own.

Hi ?me?, As long as you do not donate to the WTBTS, do not recruit anyone into the WTBTS, and you and your wife critically think for yourselves, good-luck staying under the radar!

Have the "Spiritually Strong" (non-thinking) JWs treated you and your wife differently recently with the "New Light" changes?

Personally I could not be a JW because the WTBTS's uses BITE control techniques to victimize JWs, many JWs are hipocrates, and the GB is trying to subvert Jesus Christ's role as mediator between humans and God.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

Yeah I hear you there buddy. I haven't been in service for a good year and a half, and attend probably 15% of the meetings. Wife gets to probably 40% and goes in service once a month. She's a 'social witness' and I'm doing my best to hide my hatred for religion. The good friends we do have are super coolinto go on vacations together, and think nothing of skipping meetings and going away for the weekend instead.

The weird part? The elders are completely leaving us alone! We had a shep call like 10 months ago to 'encourage' me, that's it. Do you get the 'its nice to see you here' handshakes when you do go to the hall?

    "Spiritually immature" my ass!

Is your wife still a believer? If not how did you get through to her?

the other day my wife said about he WT " WHY DON'T THEY JUST SAY "WE DON'T KNOW" INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CORRECT STUFF THAT WE CAN'T FIGURE OUT"?

Being God's only spokesman on earth is quite a burden.

Saying, "We don't know" makes them seem somewhat less than Jehovah's anointed...

Srsly, what slim said. It isn't that "cool" of a hall unless you can openly question or doubt doctrine, the GB, talk about your recent blood transfusion, etc.

You are flying under the radar in a high control group, and a murderous one at that.

Our BOE call JW men like you 'spiritual flunkies'

That's ok because they call me apostate.

So... no offense but... what's the point? It's kind of like a person smoking one cigarrette a day (I actually know someone like this) and we always ask... what's the point? Just stop smoking already.

(According to the JW's) you're obviously not strong enough to make it into the "New System" and if you did you wouldn't make any substancial impact. And, although I'm atheist, I'm thinking Proverbs 12:23 fits here.

Point is, if that's how much the religion means... what's the point? Just walk away completely and free yourself.

The hall will remain like that until the one day your new hounder-hounder decides to smack down on the body of hounders. At which point, the hounders will be under intense pressure to make sure everyone is doing the full course of boasting sessions, everyone who hasn't put in their 200 hours a month of field circus and turned in 50 studies with their names so they can be contacted, and everyone that can't readily be traced gets hounded by the hounders. The new hounder-hounder will, at that time, crack down hard on any fun events where families are gathered not for field circus or boasting sessions. I cannot tell when this will happen, but it often happens when you get a new hounder-hounder or hounder-hounder-hounder. Once a hounder-hounder-hounder smacks down, I expect the next hounder-hounder visit to carry the smackdown. If it's the hounder-hounder, you will get your smackdown when it visits.

Personally, now is the best time to bail out. Don't wait for the new hounder-hounder. You never know if it will be the one that smacks down, making leaving next to impossible. Start fading now. If you really wish to remain Christian and still have this liberty, I am sure there are plenty of other denominations to pick from. Do thorough research, though, before committing because some of them can be quite nasty on their own, and there are even worse cults out there (Twelve Tribes and Boston Movement would be 2 examples I can think of). Get involved in the Boston Movement (also known as International Church of Christ), you will wish you were still a jokehovian witless even after the smackdown. And the Twelve Tribes cult is as bad to even worse.

I think it is great that your wife has such an open mind. Like that you have a lot in common and talk use your independent thinking, independent of the society.

    Good luck and enjoy life.

I'm assuming that you still turn in a monthly service report - there's no way they would allow an inactive JW to work with an RBC. That's strictly against their 'rulebook'.
