Please be sure to remind your mom that if she decides to stay home from the meeting and listen in via telephone, she must get dressed as if she is going to attend in person. Her loving Bros and Sisters can't bear to think of her listening or (Gasp!) commenting in a robe and slippers.

Good description of rank and file members. Sadly, I believe the GB is not clueless. Would that they were. Imagine all the hypocrisy and scandals that they know. Most mainstream church leaders also know. They recognize a difference between godly doctrine and flawed human administration
Witnesses must always agree with a.human GB.
I know several priests who insist on the laity being co-leaders. They claim that Acts and Paul's genuine letters establish important roles for parishioners. They are servants, not dictators. When I try to flesh out doctrine, they cite my education and experience. Do I truly believe it is so simple? Would I of all people choose such a God? I just mention my JW background. They shake their heads. Sometimes they express that they are sorry for me.
Complexity can be confounding. I understand the attraction of certainty and orders
My experience is ltd. JWs don't seem to understand WT doctrines. To do so would require study alone and questions. JWs are jokes at Bible knowledge. We are only taught extreme obedience. The GB is not clueless. We have few Luthers or Tyndales. Popes were constrained by kings and the populace.
