Wisdom teeth

Ann, I am only against removal of HEALTHY tissue. For example, I have no problem with drilling cavity in wisdom tooth, because when they drill cavity they are getting rid of deseased tissue. But if they remove wisdom tooth then I have problem because part of wisdom tooth is healthy and I don't want the healthy part removed. In the example of gangrene you brought up, the entire limb is bad so in this case its fine to remove it. But if part of the limb is healthy then I would like the healthy part to stay.

I am sure God is real concerned with how you deal with your wisdom teeth.

Kids starving by the millions, disease killing countless of innocent people every day, people suffering horrific and violent deaths at the hands of evil men. All of this........... yet it's the teeth in your mouth that has Gods attention.

Hi Arkady, it is a pity we can't see a picture of you as your beliefs would lead me to think that you must have very long hair

Listener makes a great point. You can't stop at wisdom teeth or hair, though.

If you want to please God, you have to all the way.

    Read about it at http://www.ajjacobs.com/books/yolb.asp

As far as JW's are concerned, don't bother. They are okay with pulling wisdom teeth. They are a mind-control cult that wants to tell you how to live every aspect of your life. But they are not concerned with your wisdom teeth because they want every member to remain healthy and able to get out there gathering donations from strangers for their organization.

Just pray, your tooth will then heal. You must have slacked off of praying and donating.

Arkady, you're probably not seeing what the dentist is seeing. Perhaps s/he is seeing a tooth that is at the 'write-off' stage - it can only be repaired, plugged, drilled so many times. Perhaps s/he sees that you will end up with more filling than tooth or the tooth is in danger of disintegrating when trying to fill it.

There is NOTHING in the Bible that prohibits pulling teeth. In fact, there is the 'eye for eye, tooth for tooth' law - if a person's tooth is knocked out by somebody in a fight, the attacker is to have one of his own teeth pulled out (healthy or whatever). Also,

(Psalm 58:3-6 NWT) . . .The wicked ones have been perverts from the womb; They have wandered about from the belly onward; They are speaking lies. ... O God, knock out their teeth in their mouth. ...

You can always get a second opinion. Or, if your dentist has always given you good treatment in the past, listen and yield to his/her professional judgment.

JWs don't have anything against dental work... But..

Have you ever wondered why we need dentists? If we were created perfect, then why did our teeth go bad? Can you imagine life before dentists? A simple cavity would have been a death sentence unless you got it pulled.. Then if it got infected, you were dead. In fact, for most of man's existence our teeth have been a big killer.

I guess I'll just chalk it up on my list of things I don't understand in creation. Along with, why are our backs and shoulders so poorly designed? We shouldn't need chiropractors. Why do we have an appendix? They're only useful in herbivores. 15% of humans are born without an appendix at all!

This has to be one of the most asinine questions I've ever seen here. I have an uncle who died from an infected tooth. Do whatever is necessary to ensure good dental health, and if that includes extractions then so be it. This idea of interpreting the Bible in this way is one of the things that makes me cringe. Trust your dentist because they know what's best for you.

    Mark 9:47

"And if your tooth causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God toothless than to have a full set of wisdom teeth and be thrown into hell"

By the way, I had the same choice myself recently. I could have had a tooth filled, but was advised that if I didn't have it removed now because of the depth of the decay then the tooth next to it was at severe risk. I chose immediate extraction, and I'm glad I did.
