OTWO: "Richard Dawkins has it right in the opening quote of the video, as far as Perry is concerned.
"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence."

"The freest anyone ever is occurs when they care enough about their integrity to search for the truth.

The most enslaved anyone ever is occurs when they are constrained enough to announce they've found the truth and, to protect their pride, stop the search." -unknown

    Hi Perry,

I have to run off to work, so I only got to 3:26. I have a question, if you don't mind.

The interviewer objects to comments about "65 million years ago" on the basis of "it cannot be observed." My question is this: Do you think what _has_ been observed put no constraints on the years-ago-comment? In other words, do you think the comment could just as easily been "65 billion years ago..." or "65 thousand years ago..."?

    Cheers,

    -Randy

First off, let's remember that Ray Comfort is the person that believes the store-bought banana is a creation of god and therefore proves the existence of god (massively ignorant).

He uses the example of one true atheist-Ernest Hemingway- then highlights that Hemingway committed suicide. This "poster boy" for atheism is then used to discredit atheist's viewpoints.

Alright....if that's the way Comfort wants to go, then..... Christian and non-Christian religious believers in God throughout history, what have they done? Pedophilia, mass murder, genocide, enslavement of nations, fraud, etc., etc. By Ray Comfort's reasoning, the god-believers of history are also equally as wrong in their beliefs as atheists, if we want to judge the credibility of their stance based solely on their choices in life. According to Comfort, poor choices (suicide by an atheist) = the person's foundation was flawed, and belief in god means a person apparently cannot become depressed. By extension, Comfort argues that, because Hemingway was an atheist, and he killed himself, then all atheists are wrong. Theists have made incredibly poor choices, too, so that proves god doesn't exist ("logic" Ray Comfort style).

Additionally, Ray likes to use "observable" events as the only proof that something is/is not true. Was Ray alive to "observe" god creating anything? Then by his own reasoning, since he didn't see it, then it cannot have happened.

    Hi AndDontCallMeShirley,

Perry hasn't responded, which is okay. But I would like to explore the idea of observation as it applies to the theory of evolution, science in general and religious experience and teachings. I believe there are key reasons tied to observation why the comment was "65 million" and not some other number. Most things we know relate to the past.

I don't mind the "were you there?" question if asked sincerely. It can be a starting point. So... how can we get "there?" The "there?" is not even just about time it can be about size or distance. How do we know about atoms, electrons, etc? How do we know the landscape of Mars when we have not personally been there?

    Cheers,

Perry rarely responds. William and Caroline Hershcel, brother and sister astronomers, observed and calulated, using Newton's methods, the distance of galaxies showing some observable ones were hundreds of millions of light years away proving Genesis was wrong.

Well, first of all the premise of the thread title is all wrong. It's not a matter of Evolution or God. If a pet theory about the beginning of the world is God, I can see where problems can arise.

The "were you there?" question is used by a theist as if it's a knock-out punch disproving evolution, but suddenly the same question doesn't apply to them when they CLAIM God created man (based on Genesis 1/2). See, the Bible trumps all the textbooks on human evolution, with their nitnoid concerns for showing evidence; FAITH is where it's at, man, FAITH!

    Hi Designs,

    "Perry rarely responds."

Oh, okay. That will make it difficult to understand how Perry processes the "were you there?" line of argument. I'll assume, he posts this video because he feels it communicates an important message.

    Cheers,

I don't believe that adults come from babies. I observe them for hours and never seen one of them turning into a middle age man.

    Take care,
