Do you have any "one-liners" for drive-by witnessing?

"Do you agree that Truth does not change ?" (you may have to make sure they undestand what Truth is, it is not what they call "the truth", which changes constantly.). When you have agreement then ask:

"So a new understanding that replaces an old one makes the old one not truth?" wait for a good while, maybe having to cut through the waffle about new light, until you have agreement. Then ask:

"So, if the GB have had things wrong for 90 or so years, how can we be sure they have it right now ?".

    - Who is the slave in Mt 24:46? (8 man GB). Who is the slave ("him") in the next vs 47? (144,000). What from those two verses indicate they are different?

    - When did the 2 witnesses from Rev 11:9 die for three and a half days (WT says 1914-1919), and if they were dead how comes the WT never stopped getting published and the preaching work never stopped during that time? What then does it mean by 'dying'?

    - How would you describe someone who is willing to give their life for their beliefs, when their beliefs continually change and reverse?

    - How is it that the Rev 17:8's use of the present tense ("is not") refers to the 20th century (when the League of Nations was disbanded), but the use of the present tense ("is") two verses later in verse 10 refers to the 1st century (Roman empire)?

Faithful Witness - "That might be more effective than their current preaching efforts... Or at least it would make good mulch, after being shredded by the mower."

For some reason, I picture it as a Robot Chicken segment.

Hi Faithful Witness, This is turning into an interesting thread. Black Sheep brought up a very important point. Since the WTBTS teaches JWs thought-stopping platitudes, any person planning to reverse witness needs to have comebacks to overcome the WTBTS's thought stopping platitudes. Having additional one-liners is good, but if someone is not prepared fo overcome the WTBTS's thought-stopping platitudes a JW will most likely ignor what is said. Another thing to consider is how to deliver your combacks and choosing which comebacks to say to avoid being labeled "Spiritually Weak" (still thinking) or an apostate.

If you want to stay under a JW's "Apostate" radar, what do you think of the following one-liners:

    • Sweetly asking "Are you feeling ok? Is anything bothering you?" and just let the JW talk and continue to ask more questions while repeating back to them with slightly different wording what they said to you to show that you heard what they said. I would recommend reading Harville Hendrix's book, "Getting the Love that You Want: A Guide for Couples" to learn more about this type of communication technique.
    • To counter when a JW says "Where else would/shall we go?", sweetly ask them "Don't you mean to whom shall we go? According to John 6:68 the answer is to Jesus Chirst."
    • If a JW says "We follow Jesus Christ. He is our mediator with Jehovah.", ask them "Are you annointed? Doesn't the Watchtower encourage JWs to follow the GB as the mediator between JWs and Jehovah, such as in the July 15, 2013 Watchtower? Checkout the thread Need article about looking to the slave rather than Christ for salvation for additional references.

If you are not worried about activating a JW's cult persona, what do you think of the following:

    • To counter "Jehovah needs an organization on earth", sweetly ask "Were the Pharisees and Sadducess the leaders of the Jewish religion and represented Jehovah on earth? Why did Jehovah send Jesus Christ to earth when he had an orgnization on earth that represented him? What did Jesus Christ (and Jehovah [Mt 11:27]) think about the leaders of the Jews (see Mt 22-24)? Where in the Bible did Jesus Christ say that Jehovah needs an organization on earth? Wasn't the Holy Spirit sent after Jesus Christ's resurrection to help guide followers of Christ (John 14:15-31 , Mark 13:11, Luke 12:11-13)?
    • To counter JWs are a loving people, sweetly ask "What is the greatist commandment and the second one (Mt 22:37-40)? How can you justify shunning JWs/exJWs who no longer believe that the WTBTS is Jehovah's organization on earth with the two greatist commandments? Would you like being shunned for believing that the Watchtower does not represent God on earth? How are JWs more loving than non-JWs who do not shun loved ones for believing differently?
    • Sweetly ask a JW "What would cause you to doubt that the Watchtower represents Jehovah on earth?" Simon asks either this question or something like it and wrote about it on a thread that I was unable to quickly locate on JWN. After the JW answers, start asking more relevent questions that counter what the JW said.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

"I'm having a hard time with the idea that every single person on earth is going to be killed any day now - with the exception being Jehovah's Witnesses of course. I mean that means hundreds of millions of children. Do you really believe that???"

    Then shut up.

They will come back with some lame excuse like "Jehovah reads hearts, not everyone will be killed" which is NOT a JW teaching. Ask them to find the publication that states that. They won't be able to find anything stating anything different.

If you can show me only one New Testament scripture that shows how a person can get their sins forgiven outside of the New Covenant, I'm ready to get baptized.... is it a deal?

Why do you think the Mormons refer to their religion as "The Truth"?

Someone her eon JWN brought up an extremely interesting point that was new to me: If JWs are allowed to take blood fractions, where does that come from? Whose blood is it? If they can accept blood fractions, why can't they donate blood?

The whole blood/blood fractions things is really screwy anyway. It makes no sense. Like a Jewish person being taught that pork is bad and forbidden, but pork fractions are allowed. Does that mean you can't eat a whole roast pig, but a pork chop is OK?

Hortensia, I ran across that question also... A real mind-bender, and I might just use it sometime.

Does anyone have any "trigger" words that I should be aware of, when dealing with a JW? I think you know what I mean. I'm running a separate thread, asking for advice about reverse witnessing to the JW that is making a return visit tomorrow.

I know there are certain words and ideas that cause an automatics reflex for JW's.

Truth, Jesus, God, Jehovah, slave, cross, trinity, church...

Are there any words, concepts or ideas that should be absolutely avoided or would be possibly more effective in reaching a JW, or possibly getting them to listen better or turn on their thought receptors?

Im not sure if this question makes sense to anyone or not... But any clues about this would be helpful. I am awaiting the arrival of the books by Steve Hassan, although I don't know if they contain any tips or advice to be used for this purpose or not.

I am just thinking... If the WTS can use their language control mechanisms to control people in such a powerful way, there should be a way we can use this to reach someone, and maybe trigger something in their brain, to make them think... actually THINK... Do you know what I'm asking?

Hi Faithful Witness, Other than calling the WTBTS a dangerous cult or disagreeing with the WTBTS, I don't know what will trigger a JW's cult persona.

You might try to reach a JW's authentic persona by starting your questions with "Someone I know told me that (insert some provocative statement)." or "If you were me and learning about WTBTS doctrines, how would you respond to JWs about (insert some provocative statement like shunning, blood doctrine, WTBTS protecting pedophiles, changing doctrines, having the GB as a mediator with God instead of Jesus Chirst, etc.)."

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert
