I was curious if any of you who were part of judicial committees and disfellowshipped any ever after learning TTATT tried to look up those who were DFed and never returned, etc, or who are still DFed.

If so, tell us how it went.

I was never an elder either. I know I'd want to though if I had, to make sure they aren't worrying that God himself made that decision, etc. Some just suffer without waking up.

    Thats a good question EOM

Its not that hard to find some old acquaintances even if you move interstate so long as you have an idea of the locality of the person your looking for.

I have had success a couple of times by using the internets white pages phone listings by typing in the name and locality where I thought they would be.

No I was never an elder just curious about how some old "freinds" were after many years since I last had contact.

Now I remember that Snakesinthetower was on the judicial committee and they df'd donuthole for apostasy, I think.

I apologised to one guy I DF@d for apostasy as some of the stuff he said in his JC helped wake me up.

I was only ever involved in 1 JC. He was a man in his 20s who joined the organisation for the sole purpose of having sex with as many naive young JW females as possible. He was a predator and the congregation was a happier place without him.

Most of the JCs I was involved in were cut & dried private reprovals ( mainly people confessing to fornication / adultery , sometimes years after the event ).

We only DFd one guy who was a nasty piece of work not dissimilar to the guy Cofty mentioned above (not apostate - just a bad man. ) So no apologies necessary.

In actuality DFing people for holding "apostate views" were pretty rare in my time , though maybe they are on the increase now.

I have to say that I avoided df'ing people as this is such a blow to many. I went private reproof if at all possible. But in some cases I knew the person would be better off out. In one such case the person's life dramatically improved as they became free to live a normal, non-conflicted life. We reconnected after I left and are great friends.
