See, defending god is easy if you invent her out of whole cloth.
If there is a god..

Ah Tammy... lol I love you.
The questions just don't come with rational answers Snare. I have thought about all of them. Combine it with the overwhelming evidence of Neanderthals and other early humans and then the idea of a ransom all falls apart as well.
I like Bill Maher in Religulous, he is all about doubt. He just doesn't know and points out the fact that none of it makes sense. I'm for doubt too. It's healthy.

EndofMysteries
I see complete opposite commands and attitudes in the old testament.
There are enough hints that not everything you see commanded or carried out in the old testament was by just ONE God/god/spirit creature/etc.
It's also hard to tell for sure whether those all knew if there was just one giving orders or more, but there are quite a few hints on more.
Here are just a few examples......
The first time Moses supposedly speaks with God BEFORE having the 10 commandments written on stone, he tells him any altars are to be made of earth only, nothing at all with a craftmens hand. Also they are to make no images of anything in the heaven, etc. SO altars would only be of rocks/dirt and not stairs to them.
But the 2nd time he goes to the mountain, he is told to have a craftmen make an alter w/ copper, have horns on it, etc. Also to make angels/etc/ carvings. Read Exodus and Duet to see what I'm talking about.
We see as well how they are told to make cakes and such, but then if you read Isa 1:10-17 this God/god is saying he never commanded those things, he hates them, and wants them to just practice true justice, etc.
In Jeremiah I forgot what chapter and verse, it's revealed the Israelites were making sacrificial cakes and offerings to the queen of the heavens.
In Isiah and before Stephen is martyred he quotes the scripture and says how after Israelites made a golden calf, they were turned over to the army of the heavens to render service to them, they were worshipping moloch, etc, while in the wilderness for 40 years.
Also I think in Duet, whoever was speaking to them said he was sending his angel ahead of them and he would direct them. And that if they disobeyed that angel, he would show no mercy.
I can go on and on, but there is much more to the story then is being told in any religion that is based on the bible. You need to read yourself and be really sharp to start connecting the dots and noticing these things.

Yes, I have seen these as well.
But the way to know what is true... and what is not true (or simply misunderstood)... is quite simple: look at THE truth: Christ.

What about the words written on paper, Cofty? Even if you go solely upon what is written... Christ is still written in that book to be the Truth, to be the one that we are to listen TO... and so everything that came before Him and even after Him is still held up to what HE said and taught. Him being the Truth and Word of God. Yes?

Read it three times - no idea what you just said.

I am not surprised.
Christ teaches the truth. So even if you are going purely by the bible... not understanding or hearing the Spirit... then per the bible... it is still Christ's teachings, words, and deeds that are the Truth, and that show the Truth about God. Nothing and no one else is the Truth of God over Christ.
The law and prophets are tutors and witnesses to Christ. But Christ, Himself, is the Truth and Image of God.
You claim to have been a christian. So you must understand this, right?

I understand all the words but haven't a clue what your point is.
When you say christ you mean Jesus don't you? Do you have an allergy to using his name just because it was pronounced differently in Aramaic?
Going by what was written Jesus was an arrogant, egotistical, family destroying, false prophet.

Yes, I know.
Because you aren't looking at Him, and if you don't understand even now that it is to Him that we (christians) are to look, then I don't understand how you were looking at him even when you claimed to BE a christian.

Jesus is the name most people know, but it is not His name... and that is why I can not use it.
I say Christ because that is not incorrect, and people will know who I speak of.
Jaheshua (often also interpreted as Yeshua, Y'shua, Yashua, etc... sounds with a Y... and has the name of God (Jah) IN it; as did the names of many prophets... EliJAH; though some also carried EL - which also stood for God: IsraEL; EzekiEL. ELiJAH actually has both in his name and it means My God is Jahveh)

Going by what is written, Christ spoke TRUTH (which comes from love, but those who do not want to hear the truth often claim the one speaking it as arrogant/egotistical), preached forgiveness and mercy and faith and love as being the most important matters of the law. He spoke against hypocrites; He spoke FOR the poor and the downtrodden, the outcasts who were being judged by men and shown no mercy; sinners found comfort and forgiveness and peace in Him... the (self) righteous are the ones who hated Him. Because He revealed them for what they were and showed the darkness and hypocrisy within them.
Those who followed Him were cast out of the synogogues and out of their families... they did not DO the casting out.
