I agree with the sentiment. But I don't agree with the change, because they're hiding the rampant sexism actually present in the original text of the Bible.

Replacing "demon of dumbness" (exact quotation?) with "speechless[ness]" also obscures the superstition that governed that society's understanding of the the causes of illnesses and afflictions.

    Mute? Demon possession!

    Blind? Demon possession!

Children fell ill and died? Demon attack!

Apognophos: 7. Many jokes were cracked.

    I noticed that too.

Some humor is good in public speaking including from the pulpit! But clowning around from the pulpit......not good!

But then again if you're going to waste someone's time; over 3 1/2 hours on introducing a JW Revised New World Translation of the Bible I might be more inclined to accept it if there alot of comedy to go with it!

After all some do view many of the changes in the NRWT as a joke and laughable!

    Good review.

Valkyrie:--Yes, that transliteration lets Jesus off the hook.

He proclaimed that he came into the world to give witness to the "truth"

but never told anyone the true cause of all the ailments he is reported to be master over. Bible analizing averted.

faulty storytelling glossed over by that streamling of thoughts.

Have they changed John 8:58. Apart from the disputed theology, "I was" has been criticised as simply poor English. Has it been altered to "I have been" or rephrased altogether?

The parts that stood out for me:

Br. Splane quote: "Jehovah has the most thinking people on earth."

The applause at the Stanley Theater always went on WAY longer than the applause in the Kingdom Hall.

Br. Loesch announced next year's Year Text as "Let your Kingdom come" and explained that this was appropriate for the 100th anniversary of Jesus' enthronment.

Thanks Apognophos. I find the above hilarious. Reminds me of the lead up to 1975 when the DCs were Divine Victory, Divine Sovereignty. Some friends in London Bethel said the next one should be called Divine Disappointment or Divine Anticlimax.

Br. Splane quote: "Jehovah has the most thinking people on earth."

In fact, they are "the thinkingest people"! (a Bro. Morris quote.)

Keep walking. Nothing to see here. Nothing happened.

Good. Let's continue to chip away until the tower crumbles & crashes.

The Bible is now Gray?and don't tell me,,,,,, and probably no zipper? ..../.no Duck Dynasty camouflage, no Hot pink, and definitely no blue jean covers? Blue jean Bibles seem to be disrespectful, we don't allow blue jeans when eating in the Bethel dinner.

Yes, brothers the bible is a gray area, we have the truth, just trust us we'll tell you what to do, just like we always have.
