Jehovah's Magic Spirit directed them to put a gray cover on it. Halleujah!

It appears to be more of a stylistic revision rather than a revision with respect to textual and translational developments.

In fact it will be interesting to see if there is any evidence that those who produced the revision are competent in the original languages and textual issues.

Any self-respecting, genuine, 21st century revision would certainly revise the text in line with the latest Greek text, UBS4 or something, rather than still relying on Wescott and Hort. But I very much doubt they did, because they lack the scholarly expertise and they don't care that much anyway.

Well it matches all the cheap grey suits they seem to wear, and the grey little personalities most of them seem to have.

It's a revision of a poor translation that was based on manuscripts that were translations of copies of copies of copies of manuscripts that were written by people who heard stories from people who heard stories who heard ......

Anyone have a copy in hand? Still curious to see if they had the balls to slip "governing body" into the bible.

    Acts 15:6

6 And the apostles and the older men gathered together to see about this affair.

I would be absolutely astounded if they added "governing body". The NWT may be tendentious but it hardly every just adds phrases for the hell of it.

Cofty you have spoken truth. And thus it is easy for every religion to have their own version of the bible so it can be the authority for their assumptions......... but always in a way that will allow the 'truth' to be corrected if needed.

Yes, I don't think they did this or else they would have crowed about it during the meeting.

    "Older men" is now "elders".

I have the new NWT in my hand. I think it will take a Bible Scholar or an expert to decipher this book. When I read Revelation 19:1 it says "After this I heard what seemed to be a loud voice of a great crowd in heaven. Jeremiah 29:10 still has "at Babylon" and some other new wording. There is a new Appendix A ( A1 to A7) and Appendix B (B1 to B14). The Appendix A is loaded with new info to support WTS teachings. I am not set up to scan these pages. Maybe some one on JWN could do that. The book is high quality constructed but not all translated correctly. That is all I have for now.

Can anyone tell us how John 8:58 reads, or Col 2:9 for that matter.
