  I know a few JWs like that, I remember my sister's in-laws were showing off pictures they had taken with GB members after a holiday to New York, they are basically celebrities.

  It reminds me of a documentary I saw on North Korea and their love of “the Leader”.

  The power of mind control is strong. On Facebook, people are swooning and frothing. There is no way to reach such people.

  Yeah, I thought it was really strange with all the applause. THEY CAN"T HEAR YOU MORON!! My wife commented how the GB seemed more laid back (except for Morris & Losche who are clearly pricks). One person actually cheered when they held the bible up. Really??? Ok, it's nicer than the Bibles they had been producing for the last few years but don't you already have a copy of that book?

  I'll tell you what, I'm getting sick of looking at Facebook and Instagram since for the last 24 hours, people have been posting pictures from the event holding up their Bibles. And commenting on how God blessed them with the new revision. Uh, did it fall from the sky? did you see a giant finger writing it out in that lovely grey book? Well, then maybe it wasn't God but the WTS. Oh wait, that's the same thing. My bad.

  I will say that depending on the financial take from the weekend, you can guarantee this will be an annual event for all publishers (edited to add all publishers - wait we don't like brackets anymore do we?). Say what you want, the WTS knows how to whip up JWs into a frenzy.

  Doesn't matter. Jehovah really cares how much each person was paying attention to his current representatives. It all goes up on a big scoreboard in heaven. If you applaud more, you encourage others who are watching to also be excited about all the nonsense that is happening - and your Father who is watching in secret will repay you (or something like that).

  Quite so, this is the crux of the issue. The GB do not need money, neither does it interest them beyond the purpose of serving 'their' organization. They have the ultimate power over human souls which is something that no money can buy.

  People who say that the religion is sincere because the people at the top do not take money out for themselves need to 'WAKE UP' and stop being so silly. The times I have tried to get this point accross, well, it makes me weary just to think about it.

  Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  There is a very important reason why so many sisters idolize the GB, elders, CO's etc. It is because they are yearning for a 'perfect' male figure that they can respect and follow. They are close enough to their husbands to know their imperfections and flaws. The GB on the other hand are quite distant and removed and therefore much easier to idealize and worship.

  I have seen it first hand on CO visits. I seriously think that if he had asked the sisters to have sex with him they would have, and the husbands would probably have felt honoured to let him inseminate their wives.

  The sister you mention, I bet she doesn't even laugh at her husband's jokes!

  WT PR disikes pictures of GB member with wives, fiancees on display.

  It closes down the hormone flow needed for the herd* instinct.

  I heard that a recent WT event at which the big shots were present, there was a "cloud" of single sisters hovering and flitting about Sanderson.

  The guy looks like Mr. Magoo and his portrait is what appears in the dictionary next to "pudgy", yet he is now the number 1 object of desire for hundreds if not thousands of women between the ages of 25-50.

  Great post. I wonder, if we could measure the level of emotional response of the men in the crowd compared to the women, what would we find? Was one gender more excited by the new Bibles than the other? Who are making the ecstatic comments on Facebook?
