If he speaks modern Greek, that is not much use in understanding the Greek of the 1st Century, but he is probably the most expert person on any form of Greek to have got used in producing the NWT.
The original Aramaic and Hebrew just were not gone in to. Freddie Franz claimed a certain expertise in all three Biblical languages, but proof for that is sadly lacking. In Court he said he could not translate the Hebrew of Genesis.
