There's more to why certain individuals go back, it's not helpful ( although I can see why you'd think it really) to say if they had half a brain. When (if) you know why certain public statements are made in the first place you'd then see the reasons behind it. One recent person who announced they were going back certainly has a brain.

At the end of the day, everyone has to do what is right for them... not anyone else.

I see it in my own situation, I can't leave because leaving would mean losing my family. I talk to my family but although they can see lots of problems and they have lots of doubt, for them it's a safe, comfortable place to be. For my mum, she's elderly and has been in for over 60 years, it would actually be detrimental to destroy her faith.

If someone finds that being away from it is actually making them unhappy, what right has anyone else to say it's wrong for them?

I couldn't tell you. There's one person I know (from forums past) who had DAed, knew a lot of TTATT, was intelligent, studious, but (if memory serves) she missed the community and structure of JW life - she didn't find it in other churches - so she worked for reinstatement. I don't know whether she has sustained being a JW all these years. What you have to bury to make it work ... How long can it be pushed down? I just hope she's content.
