  What should not be taken seriously is the Governing Body itself, which is a superimposed fabrication applied to Acts 15:1-33, but not a "supreme council" actually ever found, described or mentioned in the Bible, or Acts 15 or Rev2-3. It is a specialized fronting device of secular origin as a "board of directors" of talking heads puppeted by the greater overal WTS and corporate corruption center. It was invented by men, not God, by "smooth words". (Dan11:32a).

  There is only one "body" in the Bible, the "body of the Christ" (Eph 4:12; 1Cor10:16; Rom 7:4) of which the 12 faithful apostles were the first members and the ONLY authority in that time, as they and the "body of the Christ" after Christ, do not and never did answer to anyone but God through Christ, certainly not a fictional add-on "governing" "body" of modern day bean counting and head knodding CEOs.
  
  As if Paul, James and John all submitted their letters and books for Jerusalem "supreme council" approval and OK. (What a crock of modern WT fiction).

  The whole GB concept is fictional, and thus not the truth. (the core lie; 2Thess2:11) Thus the very cell of JW subversion was founded officially in 1976 as a "governing" additional "body" naturally "set in opposition" (2Thess2:3) to the "body of the Christ" by it's clearly dubious presentation as if divine, anointed and pre-approved as "faithful slave" when in fact the GB would have to be an "evil slave" body, not Biblical, certainly not anointed and certainly not of divine approval or scriptural precedent.

  It's a manmade, non-Biblical corporate "board of governors" acting like "lords of the faith". Now how long can that lie really last? Not much longer. (1Pet4:17).

  It was accepted by 37 years of gradual JW conditioning and threat of congregational inquisitional reprisal, nothing more, nothing less, pure fantasy. (Dan8:12). It's fruitage indicates who really inhabits the "governing body".

  Doug Mason, a JWN user, posted a discussion article on that very thing. As far as I'm concerned, the GB are just another clergy of another religion, the same as any other organised religion that's ever been. Some JWs celebrity worship them, but to most they're just a bunch of guys in Bethel who give the odd talk at the odd International convention. They are the Inner Party with Jehovah/Big Brother as the figurehead.

  I have long thought that the 'successful' witnesses, the ones that stay in and do well spiritually and financially, are the ones who know what doctrine and counsel to ignore.

  And again....fantastic......that same elder should show you where Jesus made broad, sweeping statements....and then just nudge and apostle and said "just kidding....don't take that seriously"

  Band on the Run

  I thought of something that I would like to check with multi-generational JW families. My parents said it was the truth but...... Unlike others here, I was told privately at a preschool age to distinguish between Jehovah and Bethel and the local brothers. We had family exemptions. My family started out as Bible Students with Russell. My father and uncles totally despised Rutherford. They worked in the factory and Knorr was not their favorite. Every single family member, aunts, uncles, cousins, long term family friends from when the Witnesses were small so locals in NY knew the Bethel greats hated Rutherford.

  There was a deep schism in my mother's family between those members who decided to go with the Witnesses and those who decided to stay with Russell groups. Contrary to what I thought, Russell groups survived to this day. The Rutherford side descended into poverty and cult behavior. My more distant relatives prospered and even ran for state office. The only time siblings met was at funerals. This was because the Russell crowd kept the family funeral home business so the Witness side received family discounts.

  I don't understand why people would be active in the Witnesses and then qualify the teachings. My parents most certainly did. We were not fully welcome at the KH or the world. Straddling a fence does not seem rational. Humans aren't rational. JW relatives who were forced to work/socialize with worldlies to survive tended to be less doctrinaire than those who only pioneered.

  Good for the elder and his family I say. And good for the uni educated sister. They are not allowing themselves to be fully assimilated into the BOrg. Its nice to hear stories like this.
