Ma’am, with all due respect, you are just cherry-picking scriptures right now.
Yeah, I have never denied it. I just have a reason for what I 'pick'... and that is Christ, the one I am told by God TO listen TO.
I am not a 'bibleian'
I am a 'Christian'.
One who belongs to Christ, who follows Christ, who listens to Christ. As God SAID to do.
I have asked some atheists why they pick as they pick, and discard as they discard. Because they are doing what they accuse ME of doing... which is picking and choosing according to what i want to be true. But I 'pick and choose' according to Christ; and many times it is a matter of understanding something as per Christ; or misunderstanding something as per a 'lack' of Christ.
Remember that your deity also said that: The "natural use" of a woman is to serve the physical needs of men (Romans 1:27).
If Paul was speaking by the Spirit, then my Lord said that. If Paul was speaking as per his own understanding, then my Lord did not say that. In either case, I will listen to CHrist... whom I am told to listen to. Paul would be the first one to say that one should not listen to him or to anyone, over Christ.
Besides all that, Romans 1:27 is referring to homosexuality. Not a woman's natural use.
"The head of the woman is the man" (1 Corinthians 11:3).
Paul also said that there is no male and female in God. And the head of the Body of Christ (whether male or female)... is Christ.
"For the husband is the head of the wife" (Ephesians 5:22-24; see also Colossians 3:18; 1 Peter 3:1).Even old women must be "obedient to their husbands" (Titus 2:3, 5). Women are to be silent in church, for they're all stupid and therefore must listen to men. "If they [women] will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in church" (1 Corinthians 14:34-35). In fact, women are NEVER to hold positions of authority over men and are never to teach, but rather must "learn in silence with all subjection" (1 Timothy 2:9). Women are subordinate to men because of the sin of Eve for which all women must be punished (1 Timothy 2:14-15).
See above; see also that Paul contradicted himself in his 'women must be silent' because he also deemed women deaconess and prophetesses... and neither of those two are silent. Regardless, Christ did not order a woman to be silent; but had female disciples, revealed himself first TO women, who themselves SPOKE to the twelve to tell them what had happened; spoke and engaged with women, made sure Mary did not have to leave off to do domestic work since she had chosen right to be listening to Him.
Read Acts 17:21, which is actually Peter quoting the prophet Joel.
And this is only if you are female, because you forgot that:
Jesus told the apostles that He had not come to destroy the law of the prophets of old, rather, He had come to fulfill that law (Matthew 5:17).
Fullfilling something means that it has been completed.
The law is also described as a tutor... a shadow of the thing to come... that 'thing' being the Truth (Christ). Christ also explained that some laws were given, not from God, but because of the hard-heartedness of Israel... who were unwilling to do any better. (like the law on divorce; that was contrary to the TRUTH, which Christ revealed). When the adulteress was to be stoned, Christ showed MERCY and LOVE... and did NOT judge her... as He also said, do not judge, and that mercy was the more important matter of the law.
The smell of blood and roasted corpses was not just pleasing to God, who especially enjoyed the aroma after the Great Flood (Genesis 8:21),
Why choose that verse over this one:
"I desire mercy... NOT sacrifice."
"Sacrifice and offerings you didnot desire, but a body you have prepared for me;
with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
Then I said, Her I am - it is written about me in the scroll - i have come to do your will, O God."
TJesus certainly wasn't averse to malicious, virulent punishments to those who didn't accept His every word as Gospel. To name but a few, Jesus told the disciples to bring before Him any man who didn't believe in Him, and to violently slaughter the non-believer while Jesus watched (Luke 19:27).
That is a parable; that did not happen. By your words, below, you already know this... AND... that you are taking it out of context.
Jesus killed one man by having his body eaten by a swarm of worms because the man failed to give Jesus His due (Acts 12:23).
No... Christ killed no one. (and how can someone be struck down (killed)... and THEN eaten by worms and died... did he die twice?)
Jesus struck a Jew blind for thwarting His teachings (Acts 13:8-11).
Paul did that... and for a time, against a false prophet.
He struck a man dumb for failing to listen well (Luke 1:20).
He wasn't even born at that time, and that also was only for a time.
He took the lives of a husband and wife by scaring them to death for not forking over all the money they made on a real estate transaction (Acts 5:1-10).
First... it was for lying to the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Second, Christ did not strike them dead. The time for judgment had not come, and Christ does not kill ANYONE.
During one particularly temperamental time when Jesus was hungry, He even killed a fig tree for failing to bear figs, even though Jesus knew figs weren't in season (Mark 11:12-14). Jesus means business!
Had nothing to do with temperament (you are adding that). Also was a teaching opportunity for his disciples, about "trees" (or branches) that do not bear fruit. They wither and die, and are not good for serving the kingdom, or bringing people into the kingdom.
I can play cherry picking to.
Yes, you can... but you did more than that; you took partial verses out of context and made them mean what you wanted them to. Show me how i did that.
peace,
tammy
