  Obamacare relies on young, healthy people to sign up to help cover the costs of older, sicker people.

  If young people do no sign up, the law will not work as high costs will consume the insurance companies.

  This is how two Colorado nonprofits are trying to entice young people to sign up for the state exchanges.

  These are just some of the examples of the viral ads created by 'Got Insurance'.

  They promote binge drinking, carefree sex among other things.

  Have you seen Bill Clinton's latest zinger about Obama and the ACA? Obama said he agrees with Bill that the insurance companies need to let people keep their insurance, but the big question is HOW? Um. agree or not, it ain't gonna happen at this point when they have already been cancelled.

  Hillary is further removed from the ACA with Bill's recent public criticisim.

  Since the article clearly states that these ads were produced by "two Colorado nonprofits," would you mind explaining how federal tax dollars are involved?

  So it turns out this is NOT some fake ad campaign, as if created by BO haterz: instead, whoda thunk non-profit organizations are actually pretty good at demonstrating HOW organizations become non-profits in the first place, by coming up with dumb and irresponsible ideas like these.

  eg 6 of the 21 panels show young people drinking, and a few focus on binge drinking. If the goal is to communicate to young people the unspoken message that it's OK to drink if only you buy health insurance, then it's a great example of social irresponsibility; just imagine the effect this'll have on DUI arrests/convictions, deaths by drunk drivers, etc. It's going to be interesting to see the reactions of groups like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers), etc.

  Nevertheless, it's a pretty sad state of affairs when Mike Judge's movie "Idiocracy" * is apparently more prophetic than the Bible.

  (* the plot-line of Idiocracy is based on Darwinian principles, where the majority of 'smart' people decide NOT to reproduce for the sake of the Planet, etc, but the dumber ones DO, resulting in a gradual dummying-down of the gene pool in the future.)

  However, I suppose if the ad campaign is trying to get people to talk about the website and the Affordable Care Act (based on the principle from advertising that says, "there is no such thing as bad publicity"), the ad campaign will succeed beyond its wildest dreams and will quickly go viral.

  Reading this thread I am so glad I don't live in the USA.

  The average American's view seems to be "By all means spend my tax money on an unwinnable war in revolting little Muslim theocracy that doesn't even want us there in the first place (Afghanistan in case you need telling) but don't you dare spend it on cancer drugs and kidney transplants for the poorest and most vulnerable people in our own country, especially if it means people can get contreceptive pills"

  That's f***ed up, especially as despite having by far the world's most expensive healthcare (both per citizen and over all cost) you have the highest rates of infant mortality and deaths from preventable illness in the developed world.
