It just seems odd having a label that to most people just means "I haven't decided".
It is odd to polarized thinkers.

No its not odd at all that somebody hasn't decided. Its odd that we honour that state with a label so that it becomes a virtue to proceed no further.
> It tells the opinion, belief, thought of a person respecting god/gods/higher being(s) or entity/entities.
no, it's not. agnosticism isn't an opinion, it's a statement that eventually leads to an opinion. you either believe in some sort of god or you don't. if you say you don't know if there's a god or not, you're still either a believer or a non-believer.
It's easy to put some down and say they haven't done the necessary work if they define themselves as Agnostic, but what you are really saying is that unless someone agrees with you 100% they are either lazy or stupid. You are very sure of every thing because you see everything as very black or white. You were probably a very dogmatic JW also.
Sorry, you don't get t redefine words because you don't like the commonly accepted meaning.

I'll have to respectfully disagree again.
For one that has done the research and investigating it’s another way of saying that there is not enough evidence for either position to stand on solid ground definitely. After more evidence and data has been obtained and holes to be covered for either or both sides of the argument, this is the current line of thinking for an individual.
Certainly [additional] evidence or data may be gathered by another which leads to a different conclusion – Be it atheists or theist whether now or in the future.
LisaRose - You have totally misrepresented my position. I have never put somebody down for being undecided. It took me years to arrive at anything like a conclusion.
I have regularly told exiting JWs on this forum to leave it alone for years and concentrate on other things. There is absolutely no hurry to address the big questions.
Believing or not has nothing to do with stupidity.
I have said these things many times and yet you have just berated me for the exact opposite.
I have lost count how often people have said words to the effect that since it can't be proven whether or not god exists agnosticism is the only option and debate is pointless.
I responded to that in my first post on this thread but you decided not to consider what I wrote but to invent your own strawman and insult it.
I am not reinventing the definition of a word - I posted evidence of what the person who invented the word actually meant by it.
I am getting weary of the way some people on this forum make no effort to understand another's position. Take a few minutes to read what people write. Especially when they make the effort to express themselves succinctly.

That remark is beneath contempt.

Hey cofty, something we agree on. Debate is never pointless on this matter. I think debate about it is healthy and actually helps a person to make a decision where they currently stand on the matter.
I am not reinventing the definition of a word - I posted evidence of what the person who invented the word actaully meant by it.
You did. However, you originally stated the word was meaningless; not that it lost its original meaning. I agree the word lost its original meaning. The word is still not meaningless.
Take a few minutes to read what people write. Especially when they make the effort to express themselves succinctly.
We agree, yet again
you originally stated the word was meaningless; not that it lost its original meaning
It no longer has no useful meaning - if it ever did. It is almost universally misunderstood as we see on the forum daily.
"I don't know yet" does not require a label.
