I accept that science cannot prove the non-existence of God. But . . .

There is nothing "mystical" about subatomic particles, they are ordered by constraint of physical laws, electrical attraction / repulsion, weak magnetic force etc.

We may have a lot to learn in this field but we will not find any of the future discoveries are "supernatural" or "mystical".

Einstein called the effect 'spooky action at a distance' and attributed it to hidden variables.

    Hello Angus,

Well if Einstein used the word "spooky" about hidden variables that occur in a different space and time continuum, I will reserve the right to call them mystical, it is mysterious after all.

It is my understanding the rotational and vibrational movements are uniform.

Kate, you do know that electrons are not little balls that revolve in tidy loops around the nucleus don't you?

Yes I do, they are negatively charged paritcles. They are replled and attracted by large and small magnetic forces, depending on the element or molecule. Electrons actually move between atoms in a solid. How wonderful is that?

Rotational and vibrational movements refer to atoms. Kate xx

What I meant was that the old model of electrons spinning around the nucleus is not valid.

That depends on how one personally denfines those words. The point is it's the unknwn for now and it instigates enquiry, passion, and spirituality.

cofty, you are correct, we unlearn that at a particular level in chemistry. I agree with you. Kate xx

Interesting. It is my understanding electrons are sub-atomic particles. What is your understanding Angus?
