Happy Holidays Faithful Witness, I'm glad that you enjoyed being with your family during Thanksgiving. When do you plan on planting critical thinking seeds?

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert

Steve Jobs was smarter than me. And one of his favorite quotes was: when you figure out that you are smarter than all of those who are making the rules. Only then do you start to give back and make your mark on the planet. (paraphrasing)

I have heard this. I don't think its new. In discussing the blood doctrine for example, on several occasions I have been asked, "Do you think you're smarter than these brothers?".

My wife says that. To look humble, I have to say, "of course not". However, next time she says it, I'm going to say: well . . . um . . . at least with reading comprehension, YES!

I was asked, during my study, if I were smarter than them. I privately suspected that was the case, but to avoid appearing arrogant I answered this way:

"Since they keep their academic credentials a secret, I have no way to evaluate that question."

The study conductor quickly changed the subject.

kurtbethel: "Since they keep their academic credentials a secret, I have no way to evaluate that question."

Great example of verbal jujitsu. However academic credentials are not necessarily indicative of native intelligence.

The only real clues we have about their intelligence are what they SAY in their speeches and what they (presumably) approve to be published in WT literature. (Interestingly, the current GB members are evidently not writers themselves, they merely approve what others write).

Based on these, I have to conclude that they are masters of manipulation and propaganda. It's unclear how smart they actually are. Although I've seen Steven Lett give several talks and that guy is clearly dumber than a box of rocks.

Since your dad is new to "The Truth", perhaps next time if he mentions the new Bible App ask him if he's ever spoken to some of the old timers in the congregation, especially and elder, who would remember about fifteen or so years ago when the internet first started catching on that the brothers were admonished to stay away from the internet. Yet, now THe Society goes by JW.ORG, ask him does he think that's new light directly from Jah or just what happened?

"He also made the comment that there are more features to be added to the app. That will be interesting."

When will they be adding a comments feature so that questions can be posted for discussion?

Will they be adding links in order to check the sources that they quote from?

BtxB: When will they be adding a comments feature so that questions can be posted for discussion? On the 12th, the 12th of NEVER!

BtxB: Will they be adding links in order to check the sources that they quote from? NO. Hahahahahahhahahaha

Why would they give you a revised copy. They have already broke the rules, those are only for baptized publishers or those who regularly attend.

The revised NWTs are NOT only for JWs. The recent shipment to the congregations is for placing in the field ministry. Keep up, Brother Mike!
