Hey, you can lead a horse to water .... but you can't make them see that they're an ass.

A horse should never see itself as an ass because a horse is not an ass and an ass is not a horse. But, me thinks readers get what you're trying to say!

    Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Oh, and a horse that thinks it's an ass, well, I'd say the real asses better watch out, and everyone else should get ready for a mule or hinny!

A valid form of debate is REDUCTION AD ABSURDUM, whereby you reduce your opponent's argument down to its logical result and demonstrate it to be stupid, laughable and absurd.

Almost all of Watchtower teaching self-contradicts. ex falso quodlibet = if a contradiction is accepted, any proposition (or its negation) can be proved from it.

Ridicule is a Watchtower tactic and is evidence of their small mind and intolerance. Ridicule is what Anthony Morris uses as a weapon to disarm those he opposes.

I have no desire to imitate Morris and his intolerance of the consciences of others.

You are of course correct, taxonomically speaking. They are however both of the genus Equus.

I was trying to be clever, referring to the other common meaning of the word: a stupid, obstinate, or perverse person.

But I think you knew this.

Watchtower uses the printed word to indoctrinate, coerce and flat out lie. Therefore, to avoid being like the Watchtower, we shouldn't write or read stuff.

What on earth are you talking about?

You were extraordinarily clever in my book!

What you said could not have been more true. You cannot make a horse think its a ass because a horse is not an ass.

PS: I think I'd have said, You can lead an ass to water but you can't make'em see that they are an ass.

    Does that work?

And when that rudeness is within the thought mainstream it is tolerated even applauded. People are people.

This would be true if we were trying to "indoctrinate, coerce and flat out lie" but I assume most here are not.

And most here are not using ridicule as a weapon of intolerance either.
