It's a great time of the year! Although, as JW's we are taught to look at only the negative things that happen during this time of the year. That is truly sad to look at the negative. I find most people to be friendlier and in a better mood. I love this time of year. Sorry WTBTS, I don't see the negative.

    Just saying.

    What a beautiful tree Blondie!

Lots of differing views thanks. I too hate the way Christmas has become so commercialized but in life I just join in with what I want to and leave what I don't want. Having said that I understand people who don't want to be involved in anything with religious connotations after what we've all been through.

My children look forward to Christmas they love the excitement and our family traditions. The stockings are handmade because I couldn't go out and buy decorations the first year as we didn't have the money. I do stockings for Christmas morning but the children prefer that they are left downstairs rather than at the end of the bed.

Christmas is a time to create happy family memories and share times together. It doesn't have to be overly fussy it is the freedom to chose to celebrate that is important.

You shouldn't do something JUST because it's popular, but neither should you not do anything just because it's popular. It's understandable that some might have no reason or desire to celebrate, but for me I gladly embraced it. I used to say I loved not having to rush around and buy gifts and I thought it was stupid how some people went crazy spending too much, but deep down I missed parts of it and Christmas was a lonely time for me. So now, I still don't go to the mall or go nuts, but their are parts of it that can be fun, you just have to be balanced, like anything else in life.

As a faders Hubby and I must keep Christmas to ourselves. (DFing is not an option at the moment.) Frankly, I envy all of you who are free to enjoy any or all aspects of the Holliday. I couldn't care less about the religious part but I REALLY want to decorate my yard to the hilt! I want a huge tree not only to see how beautiful I can make it but for the sheer experience I have missed by being a born in. It is frustrating to be mentally free of Watchtower bonds yet not free to express myself. You people are the only ones who understand. Thanks for listening.

Pretty tree, Blondie! I never seem able to get photos to post on here. I'm sticking with practical gifts for my teen and a lot of volunteer time.

We celebrated our first Christmas as a family last year. I went a little nuts with the gifts and such, but that's OK. I went a little less nuts this year. I enjoy some of the Christmas activities, but for us it's a totally secular event. We have a tree that's visible through the living room windows, and we put a wreath and lights up outside. I know without a doubt that the local dubs have seen it, and I don't care one bit. They haven't bothered to confront us, which saves me the effort of telling them to sod off.
