In Mexico there was a JW family of 8 killed with machetes it's very heartbreaking! The problem I have is why does the WBATS not make a mention of things like this in the YEARBOOK!!! They will tell you about how a brothers chickens didn't die and how Jehovah must have blessed him... but if a whole family is killed where is the mention of JEHOVAH now?????????????????????????????????????? It goes to show how they use JEHOVAH when it is convienanfloor them!!! SICK!!!

Because that would be bad PR!

But I think you knew that.

This is a very real tragedy. Things like this are only made worse by the false hopes that JW beliefs give.

According to published reports, the famly head owed a gambling debt related to cock fighting. The Watchtower will not publicize these unseemly details as to maintain their image. Internally though, they will use it to frighten the locals as a "warning example" of those who disobey. Anything to advance the agenda.

Even if "the family head" somehow deserved to be killed over a gambling debt (a position with which I most certainly disagree), why didn't Jehovah save the rest of the family?

JV I know about the dog fighting but I doubt the one doing it was a JW even if he got baptized he probably wasnt active, who knows... but people died and I doubt the two 4 year olds and the 60 year old were dog fighting, but understand your point. They will twist the story to make it fit their agenda as you said, they will say becareful of your family who are inactive or not JWs because your whole family can die!!! SMH!!! That's another SICK aspect of their writing department.

To be fair, I don't see why something like this would ever be mentioned in the YB considering the typical format of the book unless next year's book has a chapter on Mexico. They usually select only a handful of countries, and focus on the preaching work within those particular lands. They'll select a couple individuals or couples, usually from different age groups to relate their experiences as related to preaching in that country. I typically don't read the YBs but if I'm not mistaken, they have included stories of tragedy and even the occasional black eye considering the apostasy in Ireland that was reported in one YB even if the segment on that story was propagandic in nature.

They may mention it, check next year's Year book perhaps. Too early to say. Either way JW's have their own way of fitting such evils into their worldview. If unusually good things happen to them its a sign of Jehovah's blessing; if unusually bad things happen, it's a sign of leaving Jehovah's ways or Satan and the demon's persecution etc.
