I don't see why something like this would ever be mentioned in the YB

if I'm not mistaken, they have included stories of tragedy and even the occasional black eye

You are very MISTAKEN!!! You also totaly missed the point!!! Have you been to a service meeting lately??? What do they highlight from the yearbook??? Only lovely story's of all that has gone well... and how Jehovah took care of and truly blessed them. Where are the storys about how Jehovah didn't take care of all those sexually abused or that were brutally murdered??? SFPW you are totally brainwashed, I have to use baby talk with you, but I can't blame you, you are a product of the WBATS who wants you to be obedient and humble little children, and not to question, think or reason too much, I feel for you...

Lol Ajustments, I've been to my fair share of Service Meetings, have done quite a few of the YB parts although admittedly I've never read one in its entirety. Just not my type of hype when it comes to reading material. Not really into propaganda. You know I don't usually do this for people who are so much more intellectually superior than me, but I decided to dust off my 2012 YB. Low and behold I turned to page 18, where it states that 12 JWs lost their lives, 5 were seriously injured, and 2 were still missing as a result of the earthquake in Japan on 3/11/2011. But the WT doesn't talk about tragedies affecting JWs, right.

By the way, I like how you only saw what you wanted to see in my comment about why the tragedy in Mexico might not be mentioned in next year's YB. Here I'll paste it for you.

"To be fair, I don't see why something like this would ever be mentioned in the YB considering the typical format of the book unless next year's book has a chapter on Mexico."

As Yadda mentioned, they may very well touch on this tragedy, especially if Mexico is one of the countries selected to examine in next year's YB. But as I mentioned previously they have posted tragedies affecting JWs in times past. They may not do a 10 minute audience discussion part on it during the Service Meeting, but I wouldn't say they're hiding the story either. Besides, with a tragedy like this who would want t o discuss it at the Service Meeting anyway?

I guess Mexico is no longer considered "blessed and highly favored" by Jehovah, or I should say the old guys in Brooklyn.

Remember the story from COC, what Mexico was allowed to do that Malawi was not ?

I read of this gruesome event when it first broke a couple of weeks ago. At that time, I told my wife (a devout dubby) that something didn't smell right about this story. Stabbing people to death is personal. This was either a case of 'mistaken' identity, they were mixed up in some drug cartel, or they knew something about druggers. They were not murdered over a gambling debt of some dog breeding fee. Just saying.

And yea, where was Jehovah's merciful, saving hand? Was he too busy providing extra cash so poor pioneers could get to aconvention? Just saying!

I am no fan of the Goberning Body or the WT writers, but not including this story in the year book wouldn't necessarily be a sign of callousness or any other serious fault. Thousands of JW's around the world die every year, many rather tragically. Why sholud the WT be dedicating space to them in a short book. They will concentrate on the positive stories, just as every other organization would do, religious or non-religious. I feel that you are making too much out of the story regarding what the WT should do or doesn't do. There's plenty wrong with those SOB, let's not speculate and cavil at every opportunity lest we sound like rabid, petty apostates.

" The eight were found on Sunday morning after they did not attend a Jehovah's Witness meeting and congregation members became concerned."

They are on top of things in Mexico, miss one meeting and they'll be at your door a few hours later.

This kind of thing wouldn't be in a yearbook story, it would be as a watchtower experience on the protection of meetings and if you miss just 'one' meeting, something like this can happen. (even though it prob happened before the meeting, they might put a spin on it of happening minutes after missing the meeting)
