Can WTBTS legally do this for international conventions.

Yes I agree with you Steve that it is unlikely that some one would take them to task over it. Ok they may be able to dis-invite me to the convention, as they have discretionary right remove trouble makers, just as the police have the right to remove drunken people fighting from a football match. But just because i had an incident at a football match still gives the travel agent the right to cancel the other bookings made for the tour e.g motels, transfers etc, and then to have the bloody cheek to not refund my money.

Like I said I'm no lawyer. But I'm just wondering if they would be breaking some sort of consumer guarantee act. Once I've paid my money then the deal is done. Steve could you ever imagine a person buying a service, and then the service provider refusing to provide it and refused to give a refund, because he latter found out that the person was gay. Even if the person had signed an anti-gay disclosure form. I'm sure it could be challenged in a small claims court if not boarding on illegal.

Good points joe. It would indeed be interesting if any JW who was accepted and paid up and was then later declined could take this further. My understanding is that religious organizations are exempt from many of the provisions of a country's legislation around human rights. That is, whilst they can be subjected to complaints for "hate speech", the outcomes are generally not as severe for a religious organization as they would be for private individuals who are accused of "hate speech".

BTW, anyone who has read the terms and conditions of being a passenger on a commercial flight will know that those terms and conditions are heavily weighted in the favor of the airline owners. It's an uncomfrotable fact of life that, provided organization's and companies are upfront with the limitations and exclusions, they can get away with a lot. It's the occasional customer who is prepared to complain loudly that often has the big guys backing down - usually to avoid strongly aversive publicity not because they admit they have bullied cusotmers!
