It's called a "spring." It was probably clogged. Moses said "hey, I'm going to unclog this and get some water." So he struck it hard to get some water... and later something bad happened. He made a connection, wrote about it FOR A LESSoN TO ALL. And now we're over analyzing it while many companies have turned this EXACT concept into a multi-billion dollar industry, covering the globe and cloging up trash bins with plastic water bottles.
