Haha, I couldn't stand the look of those clothes in my closet when I got DF'd, so I also got rid of them pretty soon after. My whole life I've had skirts and dresses, and they weren't the worst. The tights... THAT was awful! Three times a week getting your legs in those horrible tights and trying not to run them... aaaargh. Used to trash at least two tights a week. I really hated the whole dress up thing day after day... I'm usually a jeans and t-shirts kinda girl. So the first couple of years after I left, every tuesday, thursday and sunday I felt happy for not having to change clothes and having to go to the meeting!
I just binned all my meeting clothes.

I am a jeans and tee kind of girl as well. omg hate high heels and tights. Skirts and dresses. Matching/coordinating clothes, shoes bags.
I binned all the books as well. Well its all old light and we have jw.org
And when I do go, the second I get home first thing I do is change into something more comfortable.
I no longer go out in fs so do not bother with a big wardrobe of meeting/fs clothes. Just a few basic that I keep wearing. Some idiot actually wispered to another idiot how my bag and shoes did not match, yes I heard you. Now I have just started buying clothes for me that I actually want to wear my style. And no they are not tarty.

It was cathartic Phizzy!!!! I had this cerise pink skirt that I HATED, I looked like an old granny in it. I like jeans and smart tops, cords and checked shirts. When I'm on holiday abroad I like gypsy skirts and vest tops. I LOATHE tights, they are soooooo scratchy. I can't wear high heels or court shoes as I fall over quite alot. I like biker or cowboy boots and mules in the summer.
We should start a fashion column!!! Yipppeeeee.

Most of mine were in bad condition or were really bad in style. I mean things like puke green suits, a white tie (on a white dress shirt), and suits with big holes in the pockets, inseams that defied 2 attempts to fix, jacket liners with severe rips, or showing blatant signs that they were past the end of their useful lives. They ended up in the rubbish. I only kept the best 6 or so, just in case--I almost never use them. Apparently, they used me as the disposal for used up suits that were otherwise headed for the rubbish--to bind me with debt.
As for the ones I still have, I pushed them to the edges of my closet. While before they were accessible, now they are at the edges while I now have worldly clothing near the middle. And by worldly, I mean season-appropriate clothing that is sorted by color and season. Shorts and short-sleeved shirts for summer, jeans and long-sleeved shirts for winter. Mostly from L.L. Bean--I bought a few from Target prior to 2009. And while I enjoy decent quality clothing now, my crap suits are in the rubbish and the less crap ones are at the edges of my closet. Maybe one day I will dump the remainder of them to the rubbish while getting a real good L.L. Bean suit, but that is not a real priority now.

That's a good feeling. I did the same over time and revamped my whole closet. I got rid of all the long dresses and skirts and it is a relief to not be scrutinized over my figure and having to be sure I look super-modest.
Everything is very stylish though but not dowdy.

Yeah, I love cowboy boots (and hats!). And about high heels... I've just bought a pair of boots with a heel (not so high but higher than I've had for years). And they're really nice, look very feminine (at least a lot more than my sneakers do), but gosh... do they hurt! But hey, after years of flat shoes, sneakers and hiking shoes my hubby also likes to see every now and then that he's married to a woman hahaha. And in Spain women wear a lot more dresses and skirts, so I think I might buy some this summer... but only the ones I like, without giving one thought about what other people (like a JW congregation) will think of it.

I love to see girls make the best of themselves, and highlight their natural beauty. They can do this in cut down jeans and boots or dresses , smart suits, whatever. Well applied make-up enhances too.
What matters is that it is done well, and most girls do, and, also important is that you girls are having fun !
The WT/JW "fashion" does none of this, it hides the natural beauty of the woman, almost making her Asexual, and it sure as hell ain't fun !
I am reminded of how weird it all is if I am ever in public with my JW sister , a long time pioneer, people actually stare at her because the garb is so dowdy and totally not of this time ! (or any time perhaps ? was that crap ever fashionable ?)
