Good to hear Kate!
Should I reconnect with my Bible students? What do you think?

HAving moved back to my old area , I enquired amonng the dubs about my one and only field ministry success in the in the 40 years that I did it. This guy got baptized and the last I had heard - was doing well.
I was so pleased to learn that he was "no longer with us in the faith". Inwardly, I was glowing but I had to keep a straight face... I had always felt guilty about him but it seems that he worked it all out on his own

I bumped into one of my old studies at the store tonight, so that was fun. Even wished her a happy new year!

haha, what a happy coincedence since we are talking about it on this thread. Thank you for telling us your experience.
I have reconnected with another student, we are having coffee next week I cant wait. I am so warm and content knowing I have a handful of close friends at the press of a button. My students are all such lovely people. We were told as pioneers in the special meetings, we need to make a friend of the householder before you become their teacher.
This must be a lovebombing strategy, but I ended up with a few close freinds, that although a year has passed, true friendship, unconditional friendship withstands.

I wish I could still be friends with any of my Bible teachers! Good play, Kate!
You are so right about the love-bombing, but it does work. It kept me studying well past my better judgment.
It was an accidental exposure to a YouTube video of the John Ankerburg Show, that shocked my husband and I into investigating the stories we were getting. When our teacher told us he would not listen to the apostate information, we were done. When we stopped going to meetings, the friendships stopped too.

You have just proven yourself a bigger and better friend than any JW I know.

I'm glad it worked out. Most of my students got baptized. I reached out to one that is important to me, but she was none too pleased with me. Ah regret.
2 other students didn't get baptized but they are both guys in their early 30's now that I think are looking for stability. They contacted me to see how I was, and kind of get "encouraged". When i told them i wasn't a JW anymore, they were clearly disappointed. They were maybe counting on that to help get them going in the "right direction". I tried to be encouraging to them regardless, but it definitly was a shock and unwelcome from their standpoint.
I brought alot of people into this religion,a nd apparently i did a pretty good job. Ugh!
