Compound: Don't take this the wrong way, but your computers are prettty old. Apple switched to Intel like 8 years. You may want to consider upgrading.

Thanks, Barrold -- good advice; however, both were tossed to me by friends who have the means to upgrade. I'm grateful that both do as well as they do, even if the buffering aspect is dicey. My pcs, over the years, have had problems I have yet to experience on my iMacs.

As I hear, though, there are 2 camps regarding preference. I'm fortunate to get my friends' hand-me-downs. I take anything!

...That isn't one of the original nose-cone chassis iMacs, CoCo, is it? If so, no computer that old can handle today's Internet. Windows PCs would be total pieces of trash if they were that old. I'm willing to bet the laptop is an iBook G4.

Wow, Apo! Spot on!

How'd you get hold of my little nose-cone? It's incredible for durability and function. It is speedy on ethernet hookup (no wifi capability). The laptop is a PowerBook G4 (15-inch) and looks like the one above; however, it has speakers on either side of the keyboard. It is brilliant and FAST, even on wifi!

Heh, well there weren't many possibilities once you told me your OS versions. I assumed they were running their max OS versions and used the Mactracker app's "Maximum OS" info on each model to narrow them down. Well, I'm glad they're holding up for you, although they're pretty ancient!

yeah I figured he had a sunflower iMac but man, the ol' CRT. I've got a service manual for that at work. you can literally die if you screw up working on the guts
