I can't stand the dragging out of those tired old jokes. Then the audience's laugh, some of it forced, some of it full of "insider understanding," as though they have some special way of seeing things and the joke was funnier than it was.
Once in a great while, there is a brief moment, usually totally unscripted and spontaneous, that the speaker hits on something truly funny. Those natural, human moments are getting scarce.
