I've been high church Anglican for decades. My main church is a cathedral, the largest in the world. It was next door to my university but I was so self-centered I never noticed it. One day the subway stop I usually took was not working and I decided to walk down the other street. As I passed, I saw a sign that Cesar Chavez was going to give the sermon with Geraldo Rivera. Geraldo Riversa was a very young local fool. Chavez was already a legend for organizing the migrant workers. I had grape boycott posters at home. It blew my mind. This clearly wasn't KH.

I decided to drve in to hear Chavez. Altho I once walked through the RC Cathedral in NY, I had never been in a mainstream church for a service. It blew my mind. The cathedral was so majestic and otherworldly. The people in the chairs wore all different types of garb. There were millionaire ladies who lunch, jeans and sandals, collegiate, everything. The clergy walked through in procession. It was so different than just standing up and climbing up on the KH platform. They wore white robes with jeweled overrobes. I noticed, though, that they were wearing sneakers and.or sandals. There was incense. Chavez spoke.

People kneeled, bowed to the cross in procession. Others stood. There were no monitors. I later learned that the C of E saw itself as a broad church, an umbrella. More Puritan types stand. Anglo-Catholics kneel and cross themselves every two seconds. There is absolute toleration. In all my time over the years,I only heard one rebuke concerning worship styles. Some feminists arranged a women's Eucharist. A male seminary asked to attend. He was told men were not welcome. The organizers who told him he was not welcomed was told in no uncertain terms that God decides. Humans don't. I've seen Muslims receive communion.

I complained over the years to priests about how confusing Anglican services can be for newcomers. There is a definite culture. I've become very Anglican in my aesthetics without planning it. B.c of my JW background, I tend to hang out with seminarians. Anglicans can laugh so hard about Anglicanism. You are allowed dissent. Doctrinal statements are loosely worded. I hope you like it. Every parish is different. People encouraged me to parish hop. There are tons of Anglican churches in New York. I think of my first adventure. It was a bit scary. Now I can wake up on a Sunday, and depending on my mood, select one of five churches. Coffee hour is nice, too. There are parties. Very,, very different.

I attended a C of E church on a visit to England several years ago. I expected it to be very stuffy and formal, but it was quite nice, very welcoming, quite casual, children were running around during the service, good sermon.

I hope you enjoy it, and meet some nice people.

We have visited Episcopal churches twice, and the chanting sort of gives me the creeps. They did have real wine for communion, and they made you go up front and kneel in a row to get it. (I watched from my seat, although we do participate at our local Baptist church).

Your clothing choice sounds fine to me. They should accept and welcome you, no matter what you're wearing. If not, then try somewhere else.

The real test for me, is how the people act, and if they welcome outsiders. Time tells the truth on that issue. The truth is, you will find imperfect humans, no matter where you go. It's a matter of what you can accept and enjoy.

I like the charity work! Pay attention to see how much begging they do for volunteers and donations.

Hope it goes well for you tomorrow!
