Watching this now. Incredibly fascinating. The narrator is captivating and gorgeous. But the information is astounding.
it reminds me of a question I always had, if god was doing amazing magical miracles and these other gods were fake and had no power, then why would Israel repeatedly switch to other gods over and over? Makes no sense. Unless all gods are impotent fakes.
From the sames BBC series The Bible's Buried Secrets The Real Garden of Eve.
Cant say I agree with all this particular journalist asserts but I found it interesting nevertheless.

Isn't she just GORGEOUS !!!!!
I enjoyed the content of the programmes too, but I could watch her all day, even if she spouted nonsense, which she does not, ever.
Will watch the video's later. There is actually a lot of evidence and directions to know that the israelites were polytheistic (abraham's family had more gods and even images... also jacobs wife had a image of a god with her. I have written earlier about the use of the bull's as a God which originated in Canaan (El deity) en the worship of Asherah (there are some amazing articles on this site about that!).
What striked me as strange also was the fact that after the "false idol" at the mount of sinai the levites were ordered to butcher 3000 people while God himself did not tell moses to do so did he? I mean... he had stricken down a shitload of israelites years later and had wasted an whole entire army of egyptians and he could not kill these idol worshippers himself? You see? Why would moses butcher them (IF he ever existed that is)?
No... Genesis and the whole torah were written long after these socalled events.
marked for later, ta.

One of the ancient Egyptian pharoahs, Akhenaten, overturned the polytheism of his ancestors and proclaimed Ra, the sun god, who he renamed Aten, to be the supreme god and destroyed the images of the other gods and required his followers to refer to god in the singular. After his death his successor Tutankhamen reestablished polytheism. But the seeds of monotheism had been sown.
I have seen a couple of fragments and I am impressed. Especially the garden of eden theory seems reasonable (need to finish that one yet) especially when taking the time it was written in context.
