I am sorry to hear about your accident and glad to hear that it was minor in injuries.
I would like to recommend something to you as far as getting a new car. My daughter was in an accident 3 months ago and she has had my car all that time. 2 days ago we went "car shopping". ugh I hate car shopping. But it turned out great. We decided to go to a rental car resale place...Budget. I was all prepared to endure all the BS you expect while shopping for a car, but was totally amazed at what happened. The sales people were wonderful and we got her a car for over $2000.00 under Blue Book value. I was interested in another car and before I made a decision I decided to look it up on the internet for the Blue Book value. It was $5,000.00 under. I would never, after this, go to a used car lot or even a dealership again. Budget was wonderful.
Good luck on getting everything squared away, and I hope you feel better soon.
Sorry about your car accident. I'm glad to hear that you're not badly injured. I hope and I know that you'll get through this event plus other bad mishaps that is happening to you. Keep your chin up and keep your hopes up, buddy. Don't give up.

Be very glad you wore your seatbelt. A car can be destroyed but replaced, whereas human life cannot.
Like COMF and Andee, I too testify that wearing your seatbelt can and willsave your life.
3 years ago I was hit by a drunk driver in a side-swipe collision, with both vehicles doing 50mph. I was driving straight through a green light traveling north/south when the guy ran his red light going east/west and he slammed right into the front hood of the drivers side (my side) of the vehicle. I was in a Ford F-150 truck mind you, but the collision was so fierce it flipped his van and spun the F-150 truck I was driving in a complete circle and a half.
I had minor cuts and bruises on my chest and arms coupled with a chemical burn from the airbag on my forearm, but had I not been wearing my seatbelt I would have no doubt been thrown through the windshield into traffic at 50mph+. Needless to say, the seatbelt saved my life.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I am happy you are alive. That is what truly matters.
Sorry about your accident. I agree about seat belts. I installed them in my 50 Chevy before they were in new cars. They were available from the safety group at DuPont where my cousin worked. I have worn them since the 50s and luckly haven't had an accident. I make my grand kids wear them when I transport them anywhere.
Glad to hear you walked away from the accident with minimal damage. Jerry told Andi that when he saw your car he was amazed that you were even alive. It's good you payed attention to those "learn alot from a dummy" ads!
Good news... the insurance company (Allstate) has done a good job of taking care of me. Tomorrow they will cut a check for the value of my totaled car. I was also able to find another used car that I can buy with the insurance money.
I'm going from a 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE (1.6 Liter 4 cylinder) to a 1999 Ford Contour SE (2.5 Liter v6) that is in excellent condition. It’s an off-lease government fleet vehicle that has been well maintained.
The value of the insurance settlement is equal to the price of the car I’m buying. Bottom line: I’m getting to upgrade my car without having to pay for it!
(Well, I do have to pay the TTL for the Contour purchase )
