I grew up in Redding CA and Shasta Lake has had some bad years. I remember in 1977 we could nearly drive to the Pit River bridge from Jones Valley on the Lake bottom. What will end up happening, is that the town of Kennet will start to pop up again by the dam (which is the town under the lake). It will also become nearly a river and not a lake for the whole area. Some of those bays that offer house boat rentals are going to be a mess, as I do not think there will be enough lake to move out to. Mount Shasta hardly has any white on it right now, looks like it normally looks in June. I read online the other day that some towns in California will run out of water this year, not cutting back, we are talking a complete run out of water. I live in Oregon now, we are really worried about wild fires and not looking forward to all the smoke.

Oh, and the Kingdom Hall I went to was the one on Bichilli Lane that looks like a Swiss Alps home.

Hortensia- Brown knows the economy will hit the skids if he puts to severe restrictions in place. New construction, farming, golf courses will be impacted.

Moved back to California three years ago and the hills were green as Ireland in November and stayed that way all winter. It was so rainy that December, I think it set a record. Now this, the hills are brown, lakes are drying up. So many ranchers have had to buy hay for their cattle the price skyrocketed, some are going to Utah to buy it. Some places have already started water rationing, I am sure every town will have it if we don't get any rain.

I have to say that I am enjoying the warm weather though. It was nice enough to have lunch outside today then we went for a walk.

free2beme -- if you can see Mt. Shasta, you must not be too far from here. Do you ever get down to Mt. Shasta City? Coffee one day?

Thanks for the interesting info about Lake Shasta, they are saying as you did that it hasn't reached its record low yet. I'm sure that will happen this year, though. Lake Siskiyou is also really low, although not yet record low, and they are saying if it drops much farther that it will no longer produce electricity in Box Canyon.

I checked it out -- we're north of Shasta County and for us they are predicting near-record lows but only an inch of snow. Wah!!!

    Enjoy your rain!

I live in Southern Oregon. Mount Shasta City is like an hour away. Nice there, but no snow this year. So weird.

Hi, free2beme. Yes, it's very weird, no snow on the ground, even though it feels very wintry and chilly. Maybe we'll get some snow out of this weather system that starts tomorrow.

that lake looks so bizzare. over here we have areas that are hugely flooded - the water on the ground is becoming contaminated so please don't accept any offers from cantleave!!
