Just remember, they inject you with a very mild version of the flu so there is always the possibility of flu-like symptoms. I've never had a flu shot.

That's it, troubled mind! We posted at the same time -- please see above. I'm really torn, given what has happened to me and some friends.

    Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's the "flu germ" of some sort.

A former co-worker of mine always made sure she got her flu shot the company gave out faithfully and the following week she was faithfully out with the the flu, or for those of you who believe in the shot, a very, very bad cold.

I don't get the flu shot. Here's one article about why I don't:

I get the flu shot every year. In Australia it's provided free if you want it. I have never had any reaction at all. I also never get sick.

This year I spent Christmas in the US and got the worst flu I've ever had. Still suffering after three weeks.

    Weird!

Life is risk. Do you know how deadly the flu can be? It is very serious, esp. for older people. Yikes. I am an older person. I will tolerate the risk of the vaccine b/c it is much lower than a case of the flu. Statistics are available. Some people are too antiWestern medicine. Disease is not your friend. The wiser solution would be to develop a screening device/system to identify those likely to have a bad reaction to the flu. It has been wonderful not having the flu. Coco, I know one month is a long time. I believe if you had caught the flu, it would be more severe and last longer than one month before you felt well.

Besides, if everyone opted not to have vaccines, there would be a massive health crisis. I was born around the same time as Salk/Sabin developed their vaccines. There were severely crippled people everywhere compared to today. The iron lungs were very scary. Society should not return to those days. Anything can give you a bad reaction.

If you consider a range of risks, vaccines are low. In law school, we studied the automobile. Automobiles are so inherently dangerous that society does not allow any other such dangerous instrumentality in the marketplace. Cars were developed closer to the frontier times. There was minimal regulation by the federal or state government. Cars replaced horses. Americans like to play cowboy.

Perhaps you need to see an infectious disease specialist. I never heard of one month. There is a time period before the vaccine kicks in. You may have already contracted the flu when you received the vaccine. They know the course of diseases. Perhaps there is a special protocol for highly sensitive people. Look at me. Most years, I've had absolutely no reaction. You might ask how serious a flu would be for you as an individual. I live alone and a bout of the flu would be very hard to manage at home.

You do know that sometimes the flu morphs from the mixture chosen for the vaccine. It boils down to managed risks.
