The English language affords our dear Nancy many an opportunity . . .

Funny how our differently spelled words so often rhyme with one another!

That knitter guest of yours, crmsici, is on to something. My aunt chrocheted like that while on holidays. She didn't even have to look at her hands. Activities like knitting are automatic, and can be enjoyed even by those with dementia. A hobby for our old age.

Yes, this forum is pretty decent!

    Desirous of Change:

You forgot the category of: those who have financial entanglements and/OR who are benefiting from it.

If somebody with a business had JWs as clients and employees and then he/she decides to leave the religion, they run the real risk of having the rug pulled out from under them in a New York minute. So, a person like this has to remain silent until that time if and when they can change things....OR possibly there are also those who employ desperate JWs for chump change that nobody else will work for. This helps to keep the "brother's" costs down. These people are so grateful to work for a "brother" they will tolerate anything. In some instances, they are stuck.

Also, let's not forget those who have family in the religion that they know they would lose if they decided to leave. These people are stuck in the religion and are like hostages.

But, I agree with you that the rest of the people in the religion are unthinking and have checked their brains at the door a long time ago.
