Yes, like many who leave the JWs, Doug took up the famously healthy and beneficial habit of smoking.
He tried to quit when it was clear that much damage had been done to his lungs.
We loved Doug, not for his faults, but for his finer qualities and for his generosity with them.
If you don't smoke, please don't start, and if you do smoke, please stop.

Hello, all. I wanted to offer my respects in memory of Doug's passing, as I have just found out a few days ago. He was a real fixture here at one time and when he had an epiphany, it was a good one. I have been unable to find an obituary. It's the way JWs get the final swipe with their "tough love" hatchet blade for leaving their hall of lies.
