Ablebodiedman,

...and that is why we call ourselves "Jizzy-Hizzy's Wizzies" in jive.
emeth, thank you for including that link to the Karaite website which includes the fact that :
...in the earliest complete manuscripts of Scripture we find that YHVH is written Y e HVaH. This is how YHVH is written in the Ben Asher manuscripts (Aleppo Codex and the Leningrad Codex) which preserve the most accurate complete text of Scripture. Modern printings which acccurately reproduce the ancient manuscripts, such as Biblia Hebraica Stutgartensia (BHS) and Hebrew University Bible Edition (HUB) also contain the form Y e HVaH.
I don't think it is irrelevant that the Karaites continued using God's name long after the Rabbanites had condemned it's usage. We know they were still using it in the 10th century because of the writings of Qirqisani so it is possible this is the source of Raymundus Martini's latinised version of God's name.
Mistified asked, " I wonder if this is true, because if it is, that would make jws the true religion. Right?"
No legitimate group or organization has any reason to lie or use half-truths, or misquotes. The use of a "false stylus" is never justified. The moral issues involved take precedent over the pronounciation of YHWH. Evidently YHWH did not see fit to preserve the punctuation, but any lies and deceptions based around that name belie the claims of those claiming to worship YHWH. Yehowah, Jehovah, Yahweh, is far more concerned with the deceptive practices of so-called religious leaders, than with the pronunciation of YHWH. IMHO, you should concern yourself with the fruitage of the particular "leaders" that you are associated with, rather than worrying about the pronounciation of YHWH.
Jeremiah 8:8,9 "How can YOU men say: “We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us”? Surely, now, the false stylus of the secretaries has worked in sheer falsehood. 9 The wise ones have become ashamed. They have become terrified and will be caught. Look! They have rejected the very word of Jehovah, and what wisdom do they have?
Matthew 7:15-20 "Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
Not that the prononciation really matters, but if anyone can prove they know tha correct pronunciation, please do so here:
This thread is open to anyone, Elders MS's, C.O's D.O's, Branch Overseers, the GB, anyone. I am not picking on Billythekid. Pick any subject you like. Just stick to the WTBTS's official criteria for truth.

I'm mystified mistified, why do you think the JWs using the correct pronunciation of God's name would make them the true religion? Please could you clarify?
Your friend obviously hasn't read the appendix in the NWT where they admit openly that Jehovah is not the correct pronunciation, but is the acceptable pronunciation in English.
"Why, then, does this translation use the form "Jehovah"? Because that form of the divine name has a long history in the English language."
The same as why it's Jesus instead of Yeshua.
Although, this has long baffled me. Why make such a big deal about restoring and using God's name when they don't go to the most accurate and accepted pronunciation instead of watering it down with English? Make absolutely zero sense. There are plenty of Bible translations that use Yahweh or YHWH instead of Jehovah.
If we were supposed to call God by his name, I think Jesus would have told us how to say it. He called him "Father."
Yahweh would probably be the closest phonically accurate pronunciation from ancient Hebrew.
.
Yahweh ( / ˈ j ɑː w eɪ / or / ˈ j ɑː hw eɪ / ; Hebrew: יהוה ), was the national god of the Iron Age kingdoms of Israel and Judah. The name probably originated as an epithet of the god El,
head of the Bronze Age Canaanite pantheon ("El who is present, who makes himself manifest"), and appears to have been unique to Israel and Judah, although a god
Yahweh may have been worshiped south of the Dead Sea at least three centuries before the emergence of Israel (the Kenite hypothesis).
In the oldest biblical literature (12th–11th centuries BCE), Yahweh is a typical ancient Near Eastern "divine warrior" who leads the heavenly army against Israel's enemies;
he and Israel are bound by a covenant (a feature unique in ancient Near Eastern religion) under which Yahweh will protect Israel and, in turn, Israel will not worship other
gods.At a later period, Yahweh functioned as the dynastic cult (the god of the royal house), the royal courts promoting him as the supreme god over all others in the pantheon,
notably Baal, El, and Asherah (the last of whom may have been his consort).Over time, Yahwism became increasingly intolerant of rivals, and the royal court and temple promoted
Yahweh as God of the entire cosmos, possessing all the positive qualities previously attributed to the other gods and goddesses. With the work of Second Isaiah (the theoretical
author of the second part of the Book of Isaiah) towards the end of the Babylonian exile (6th century BCE), the very existence of foreign gods was denied, and Yahweh was
proclaimed as the creator of the cosmos and true God of all the world.
By early post-biblical times, the name of Yahweh had ceased to be pronounced. In modern Judaism, it is replaced with the word Adonai, meaning Lord, and is understood to be
God's proper name and to denote his mercy. Many Christian Bibles follow the Jewish custom and replace it with "the L ORD ".
It really doesn't matter.
It doesn't really matter because Yahweh never existed like every other God(s) imagined in human history.
