I think that's stated only to support the "no birthday" agenda. The secondary reasoning for lack of birthday celebrations is that every one mentioned in the Bible is negative, so they have to make Jesus being given gifts when born negative as well.

The idea of Satan creating a star, which is really a supermassive burning globe like the sun, and much larger than the earth and all the planets combined, means Satan is a creator with immense power. This is blasphemy.

One Last Kiss
I grew up believing this notion was a fact in the bible, but later discovered it's actually taught in My Book of Bible Stories. It's also in the insight books and reasoning book. These all date from late 70s/early 80s but my mum asserts that this was taught before then too.
As you start to question things, the number of times you realise what you thought was biblical is in fact WT 'reasoning' is unsettling! The appearance of the star led to fulfillment of prophecy by well meaning men who then heeded God's message, not really seeing the devils work here myself.

Thank you all for your ideas and thoughts.
I have been researching it quite a bit lately. reading suggested linksd and others as well.
I have been formulating questions for my husband to ponder and answer for himself ( if he will allw his brain to do such a thing)
Did Herod’s belief he killed Jesus, help save jesus from being killed?
If the wise men were pagans why did they search for Jesus , bow down in worship to who they believed to be Messiah, King of the Jews, and bring him gifts of enormous wealth just as Herod was setting out to kill him?
Since Angels announced the birth of Jesus to all the shepherds in the fields it was a short matter of time before herod would know this. Why would God announce Jesus birth when Herod was set out to kill him? This action by God would put Jesus life in danger, unless He had other plans, which would be speculating on what Gods plans may have been since they did not happen.
Since Herods own wise men told him Jesus was born in Bethlehem, then what was to stop Herod from killing jesus? Except for the wise men from the east finding the star, following it, asking about him in jerusalem so that Herod was wanting proof from these wise men so he waited for the magi that never returned.
The wise men/magi brought extravagant birthday celebratory gifts which could fund such a long journey to Egypt, then obeying God, NOT satan, by not returning to Jerusalem (which was biding some time for the Holy family to flee to Egypt that very night. ).
If there was no star, what would have stopped herod from killing jesus? The prophecy was there, the magi all over in Herods kingdom knew it, knew the place. The shepherds in the fields found out immediately, and then were told to spread the word, who told others and others about Jesus. The shepherds all knew it. The Good News of Jesus arriving could not have been a secret from Jerusalem nor Herod for very long. What would Herod do about the news without the magi from the east coming to Jerusalem?
Why were the people of Jerusalem troubled to hear of the magi from the east looking for the messiah? Was it known that it was inevitable ( due to prophesy and Herods own behavior) that Herod would try to kill Jesus?
