So recently it was my daughters B-day and my wonderful wife thought of a great idea....lets get her a cake. So some family came to town and we did cake and a few gifts. Interesting developments as my wife and i have not been to the meetings in abouuuuuut a month....and have been incredibly irregukar in attendance the past six months. Right on! Anyways, the time is approaching when inwill divulge some doubts once more and i am toying with the notion of just telling her i wont go back to meetings. But we will see how things develop! My oldest starts school soon and ill be damned if im going to let her endure the torture for not participating in arts and crafts having to do with holidays....So the clock is ticking.

    WTG!

I wish I'd woke up before I put my kids in school. Life will be better for her. Enjoy!

keep it up John! No embarresment or lack of "friends" is worth your children having to grow up as witnesses. Ever since I woke up I have said, if you have kids then you need to get out... yesterday!

One thing that really woke me up was "how would my son cope on the ministry?"what would happen if his school pals saw him?I couldn't put him through that.No way.I hope you can leave soon.

Good for you, Jon let those kids join in the fun and feel normal.

Cake and gifts is a good place to start but here's another gift for you to think about.

It was the blood issue for me and my wife when we wanted to start a family...... this was back in the 1960's when medicine could not provide many life saving treatments without using blood.

Times have changed and survival rates for bloodless proceedures have improved but there is still a critical need for transfusions especially in trauma case's.

I'm not going to tell you what to believe or think but if it was me I'd get rid of the blood cards and make sure your school doesn't know that your child is a JW.

Even after we left I didn't really think about that issue a great deal until Jonestown then I realized how insane and dangerous some beliefs actually are.

I think my wife is at a good point right now for speaking about things. The cult identity is fading, our personal life is changing....were doing all manner of things frowned upon by JWs....if they knew i am certain we'd both be DF'ed. lol wed be toast from just a Bday cake if they knew....let alone some other deeply personal things we do! ;-)

So ill keep at it and bring the non cult identity out....and see what happens.

Becareful Jon Preston!! Encourage your wife to make new non-JW friends, compliment her and your children to do things that the WTBTS discourges, encourage her and your children to use the internet and critically think for themselves, and tell/show her and your children how much you love them and will not judge them, BUT do not tell your wife your doubts until she tells you that she will not attend meetings anymore and that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult.

The WTBTS's BITE control is very powerful, so don't take it for granted.

I wish you and your family the best.

Peace be with you and everyone, who you love,

    Robert
