JW's are an unknown fringe group

A person confined to a jail cell soon narrows their thinking to what takes place in a small confined area. The same is true of inmates of a closed society who become 'group-centered' who live in a "them versus us" world.

When Russell started his work in late 1800's there were about 1.5 billion people on earth.

There are now that many people in China.

Dateline must regret putting this story together. The only reason they are going to air it is because they have to justify the time and money spent on the story.

    Joel,

So very true. I remember how ego-deflating it was as I moved from the shell of the society's world-view into the "real" one. After a childhood of being told that the world revolves around your select group and that the activities of this group somehow were Earth-shattering in their importance, learning that the world writ large could not give a fiddler's fart about anything the organization did. Aside from seeing them as a minor annoyance, no one pays them all that much attention. One woman I dated a few years back who happened to work at a hotel only knew the organization as "those creepy people who cooked in their rooms."

I always had a bit of a hard time swallowing the teaching that some obscure biblical prophicy was fullfilled by a resloution passed at an assembly in Ohio.

You 'hovahs really need to start thinking outside the box. You give XJWs crap for trying to tear the WT down, yet you don't address the problems with real meaningful discussion.

When a person or group thinks that their group is chosen by Dog, it doesn't seem to matter what wrong those within the group commit, let alone the leaders of the group.

Look at the pro-'hovah comments in the above posts. Pshychodork's comment about China kill me. Have not the JW numbers increased since Russell's day? What about the "witnessing work" in India? Arab countries? Or even AMERICA! Virtually nobody know who in the hell 'hovahs are. Some have heard of 'hovahs, but many haven't a clue about the great "life saving work". LOL!

You 'hovahs are truly clueless. Clueless about the "world" and totally clueless about the organization that you serve. Get a clue, will ya?

hmmm, think I might do some research on how much money could have been earnt in that time and how much it would take to feed the starving children.

You know what? I have never used text formatting and always presumed it was my normal brand of html. What did I do wrong?

It is similar, but not exactly the same as html. When in the reply window, click on - use forum code in your messages - at the bottom of the test entry window for a guide.

Do not provoke asks some good questions.

    Hahahahahhahahahahaha!!!!

Not sure why you think this is funny. What is discussed on this forum is of life and death importance. The results of our involvement with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society has affected our lives and our health. It is a serious matter.

You people have nothing better to do with your lives do you?

Most of the people on this forum live full lives or are at some point of healing and trying to live full lives. Clearly we think our efforts here are part of the healing process for us and part of preventive maintenance for those who are thinking of becoming witnesses.

I mean listen to yourself! You sit there and say no one cares about the witnesses or concerns themselves with them. Hey your right most people don't know who we are.

As I stated above, the purpose for the thread was to make the point that witnesses are not the center of the universe, indeed, supposedly being possessed with the most important message on earth, they are basically an unknown. This differs quite a bit from Jesus and his apostles message which reached the entire inhabited earth in a very short period of time.

But let me ask you this, why are you all on here basically just trying to tear apart everything about us? Sounds kind of stupid to me, how about you?

Most of us don't tear apart everything about witnesses. Many, like myself, believe there are good points and bad points to being involved with the witnesses. One of the bad points is allowing oneself to become involved in a grand delusion that one is part of a special group of people with a special blessing from God. That is cult like thinking.

You know I don't know why you hate us so much.

I do not hate Jehovah's Witnesses. I cannot speak for everyone here.

I mean maybe you were a witness and was treated bad by one, or maybe you had a bad experience with one.

It takes far more than one or two bad experiences to make the drastic decision of leaving the witnesses, going through the psychological trauma of a judicial committee, leaving behind loved ones, both family and friends. Its a serious decision. It took me 15 years to make it and I still reexamine it often.

Look, people aren't perfect, and there are bad witnesses just like their are bad Catholics and bad Jews and so on.

This is basically my point. The special knowledge that Witnesses supposedly possess doesn't make them behave any differently than people of other religions. Thanks for helping me make my point. Its the "goodness" of people that counts, not the name tag they wear.

But please don't stereotype us by saying that we think we are "perfect" or we think that you are all going to die, or whatever else you "think" you may know.

I did not make this assertion.

Majority of Witnesses are hard-working, caring individuals just trying to struggle through life like everyone else.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

Don't respond telling me, oh well, a witness one time did this, or did that or whatever. Yes, I know there are witnesses that murder, steal, cheat, fornicate, and all sorts of other things that are wrong.

    Again, this is my point.

But don't sit and clump everyone together.

Witnesses are the ones that claim special unified status. That is not a claim made from outsiders or exwitnesses. We know you are varied.

Also don't think you know everything about witnesses, even if you were one before. I don't care if you were a Circuit Overseer or even served on the governing body at one time and now you are not a witness. If you aren't a witness anymore than you don't know what you are talking about because you have a biased view point and only say what "tickles" your ears.

I speak only from my own personal experiences as a long time witness, pioneer and Bethelite who knew thousands of witnesses.

How true Joelbear! I don`t know how many people have asked me what they believe and I actually forget. Dosen`t it make you wonder why 99.999999% of the worlds population aren`t Jehovahs Witnesses and if they are at the centre of the universe why are there so few Dubs in this world? They preach like crazy and it takes an average of 8000 hours of door to door work to get a study! I guess thats why they get a hardon when a publisher gets a study, so few!

    BECAUSE THEY ARE A CULT!
