Think a moment. Mongolia had about 600,000 people and was able to put conquest for much of Asia, Middle East, and Eastern Europe around 1250. Egypt under Roman administration had 3 mil people, while Judea about 1 milion. Famous crossing of Rhine in 406, when bands of Germanic migrants overrun Western Roman Empire, was made of about 100,000 people. There is no way there was million of Jews wandering through desert.

Prologos: You would think a few bones of cattle, sheep or

human remains. I'm sure people died doing that time.

Nothing over 3000 years, zip. All I can say, they were some

    clean people.

    Kalk. Good point.

Hebrew numbers are much harder to translate then their letters, they Idea that there was several million Israelites is totally bogus. Not to mention that when they came up against many of the city states of Canaan they were referred to as being mightier and we know that these cities were never that big.

I don't recall anything in the story that suggests they were blind

My conclusion; Maybe I'm missing something here.

Numbers10;11 the twentieth day of the second month in the

second year they left the Sinai, making it about 11-13 months

    into their journey.

Numbers14;29-32 The Lord said to Moses" Tell them in the desert your

bodies will fall. Not one of you will enter, except Caleb and Joshua.

Your children will be shepherds here (near Canaan) for forty years, until

the last of your bodies lies in the desert.

How close were they to the promised land after 11-13 months journey,

Numbers 14;40 "Here we are and we will go up to the place which the

Lord has promised. So a few did enter the promised land.

So after that futile invasion attempt, God then banish them from the gates

of Canaan for 40 years, but not to wander aimlessly in the desert.

My thinking was, they walked around the desert for 40 years before reaching

the promised land, but according to numbers it took only 11-13 months

    to reach Canaan.

Black sheep: I was told they were spiritual blinded.

A normal walking pace would get a man from Egypt to Canaan in less than a week just walking six hours a day. To take 11-13 months to reach Canaan, they might be travelling only far enough each day to get away from the smell of the ring of excrement from 2 million people that is surrounding last night's camp.

Did the person who told you they were spiritually blinded show you this from a Bible, or were they making it up?

    Jam:

For your research, Numbers chapter 33 should be useful. It lists the 42 stopover points during the wilderness stay.

How do you stop 42 times in that short of a distance?

In a 40 year trip, it averages roughly 11 months, 13 days per stopover. I take it the stopovers were for the purpose of keeping them in the wilderness until the 40 years expired.

Oh Dear! You people have to understand that there was no trace left because their shoes and clothes did not wear out, the mannah they ate disappeared and the great lord jehovah covered over all evidence of the nomadic existence of the Isrealites. The same magic he used to create the world in seven days and then flood it in 40 days.
