I've sort of mentioned this as a different possibility in response to other threads but I was curious if any of you athiests all think that life just evolved on this Earth from single cell organisms or if you ever thought it's possible that intelligent life long ago w/ advanced science could have made humans and much of life on earth and just dumped it here or made it here.

I'm not making this thread to debate, I am just curious if any of you have come up with other ideas on your own as possibilities since all we have for the origin of life are just theories right now.

I think most intelligent and logical people would acknowledge something like that could be possible. That doesn't mean they think its the answer or they think its likely. But, I admit its possible.

Extremely improbable, although being that there are billions planets in the universe,

the likelyhood of another planet with living organisms is highly probable.

Anything is possible. However, I only believe in what has or can be proven.

I is big to rmind us that this is no trivial matter. Distance also gives some protection from radiation that obeys the suare over distance laws.

Three things had to happen to get us here by now: energy to matter at the beginning, cooking heavy elements in stars and really important ones in exploding stars and the last 3billion 'day' to get us to this "look at me in the mirror how smart I am"stage. we are lucky at that. Would anybody be luckier to have drifted faster through these stages? then add more years for research, then travel time?

    It is dreaming, not science.

Even deists or theists realize that such a proposition is only a short step back from their belief.

All life on Earth evolved from a single common ancestor.

Every single living thing on Earth is related. All living things share DNA.

No need for aliens to be involved.

However, as to the question of whether there is life elswhere in the Universe, on the balance of probabilities, there's a fair chance there is. NASA has just released data saying that every star is part of a solar system and all stars have at least one planet orbitting them. So if life evolved here, it probably has somewhere else in the Universe as well.

But because of the vastness of interstellar space, we will never know.

all we have for the origin of life are just theories hypotheses right now.

    Fixed that for you.

I am sure there is "simple" life all over the unverse. On earth prokaryotes had the world to themselves for almost 2 billion years. The circmstances that led to eukaryotic cells and then muti-cellular life was so unlikely it may be unique or very rare.

The idea that life on earth was seeded from elsewhere was proposed to address an objection that it appeared on earth relatively quickly. I don't think astrobiology will solve the abiogenesis question.

Even if someone could prove there was some kind of creator dude wafting around in the ether, it wouldn't mean that it was the one described in any particular culture's literature or folklore, or that it might give a stuff what you do when the lights are out.

Beliefs aren't just either/or, black/white, if not what you think/then what you think must be the alternative.

You don't have to try to assume/assert what people must/must not, believe if they are not your followers or leaders.

    It's ok to not know.

It's ok to not have an answer to every question every twit asks.

It's ok to get on with your life without caring what BS is being spouted by people with imaginary friends.

It's ok to evaluate a question before you attempt to answer it.

It's ok to call into question all of the ideas that have been preconceived for you by your parents/culture/cult/peers etc., and admit to yourself and your peers that because you've been scammed by a high control cult, you know bugger all that can can be trusted and have to start over.

Without evidence I'm not believing anything. But I have wondered if there is a greater intelligence watching us the way we watch ants (bad analogy perhaps), where the ants have no concept of us, we in turn have no concept of the watchers.

    Just something I pondered.....personally I don't care.
