How do Bible believers get around this question.... ??

Bible believers of the literalist persuasion like the WT and other weird fundies actually believe the Bible stories and chronology and therefore believe that Adam and Eve were the first Humans.

Those of us of European ancestry all contain within our DNA a percentage of Neanderthal DNA. The Neanderthals died out 30,000 years ago.

How will the WT and other Bible Literalists (an untenable position by the way) get around the facts ?

I suppose by simply ignoring the facts, as with the Flood of Noah and a myriad other things ?

When I used to argue with my father about these topics, he would always claim the dating methods were innacurate and that the neanderthals were deformed humans.

I've heard similar rubbish, but let us never lose sight of the facts when we want JW's to confront them. The facts are they were not deformed, and that they died out 30,000 years ago ! So how come Adam, and the sons of Noah carried the DNA ?

26,000 years seperate the last Neanderthal and Adam. And yet I have some Neanderthal DNA. (Sometimes I think about 85% LOL).

First of all, the 30,000 years is inaccurate. Science does not KNOW that.

Satan is helping scientists to get it all wrong- dating of life and people, what DNA really is, the very existence of a species/kind/whatchamacallits known as Neanderthals. It's all wrong. Humans were created fully human from the dust of the ground. Maybe Neanderthals were the offspring of Cain. Either way, God said it and had Moses write it, so the story in Genesis is true.

That's how they answer/get around your question.

Phizzy - It baffles me. I guess they must just ignore anything that conflicts with their myths.

DD - How do you KNOW that 30,000 years is inaccurate?

You sound like a JW DD ! yea , I know there is doubt about exactly the time of demise of Neanderthals *, but to focus on that detail is a very JW thing to do, can you point me to proper research that suggests they were still around in 4026 B.C ?

(Or are you playing devil's advocate DD? I rather think so, and yes that will be the fall-back position of the JW).

    * I believe the latest research indicates they may have died out earlier rather than later, which strengthens my case.

    DD are you for real?

I have just looked up more than five different sites that all approximate the extinction at around 30,000 years.

Phizzy, maybe a JW would say that neanderthals have human qualities like burying their dead and making tools. Hence Adam and Eve had a Neanderthal make up.

But to be fair the only way to explain it all is to say the bible is ficticious and mythical. Or everything in the bible is symbolic and prophetic.

So, big J put Neanderthal DNA in to Adam ? Why ? he did not put Denisovan DNA in to the same extent did he ? The Neanderthals suffered from a variety of diseases, why introduce this into Adam ? Surely not ? he wouldn't then be perfect.

This all puts the fact that genesis is a fairy story into sharp relief. What differentiates it from any other mythology's creation myth?
