My wife years ago lost her purse in a phone booth ( you know

how long that was, phone booths). She was out in the street work.

That evening a young Hispanic male called her and told her he had

her purse and will bring it to her. He wouldn't take any money, and

guess what he wasn't a JW.

I wish I was in the room when they said it must have been a brother that returned the money.

I would've told them it was also a brother who was at the time at Bethel that made the newspapers here in NYC in the 90's that had an outside gig at some job and was caught stealing from his employers.

My mother refused to believe that until she asked the Cong. Elder who was living in the Bethel at that time also and he confirmed it for her.

That's the same mind that will hear the details of a heinous crime (child sexual molestation) prepetrated by a JW elder and exclaim, "it couldn't have happened, he's a brother".

    Why not a sister?

What about 3 MS over my jw career who took money from the contribution box?

I work in a higher education establishment. Strangely despite the place being full of degenerate, materialistic students who have forsaken everything but their own advancement my experience has been of absolute honesty. I have a lap top and tablet and frequently leave them exposed to public view whilst I get a coffee or go for a bathroom break. I have never had one instance of theft or dishonesty. I am a bit careless, I have left jackets and other belongings over the years in various places round the campus. I once lost my wallet.

In every case my belongings are either where I left them, have been handed in or someone has gone to a lot of trouble to return them. I have no anxiety about the threat dishonesty or theft.

So the moral is. Dont send your kids to University, they may find out how decent ordinary people are.

When I told this to the Jws they said, well the person that returned it must have been a brother.

The only way they can cope with something that contradicts their world view is to make up lies about it. Not good for your mind to live like this. Eventually people just can't find a way out of the maze of their own beliefs. Very sad.

The worst place for dishonesty, Casinos. Oh boy,

don't leave your purse , jacket, drink or money in the machines. LOL

I ran short on funds , while taking money out of the ATM machine I turn

my head and the 100 bill flew out of the machine about five feet . I turn to

take my money out and no money. What the hell. At that moment I saw

a guy reach down and hurried away. I called the attendant over to check

the ATM machine. They checked and the machine said it paid me my money.

Well the checked the tape (camera), and it showed the guy picking up my

100 bill. They ask if I wanted to press charges, they had the guy on camera

as he was leaving the casino. I told them forget it, it would cost me more money

to take him to court. Yes there can be some dishonest folks at those places. LOL

and honesty and being with honour used to be hall marks of JW. I guess they have 'over witnessed' and are getting in a whole lot of people and attitudes they didnt have before.

Think of the mob that left Egypt with Moses and Co who were not Israelites. After the mess Egypt was after the 10 plagues all the scum would attach themselves to anyone who was doing better.

And how they like to play on the fact they are so honest - a friend who is building a house in the village my wife comes from confided that when he was getting quotes he got this Witness turn up (his wife comes from a Witness family but was never baptised) saying how he was so honest and then his quote was twice that of other builders and when my friend checked references found out his work was shoddy. But I am sure my father-in-law will use that guy to do the roof repairs I am financing.

There are plenty of similar stories on JWN. The most common perpetrators of fraud on JWs are other JWS. They think they must be honest because they are Witnesses which means they don't recognise they are getting cheated until it is too late.
