:Yes, as they spew their "woe is the earth" bullshit.

Why don't you try reading some "Chicken Soup for the Soul.":

I do not have time for such rudimentary rubbish. Real women consume real mental food for the soul. I can also see that drinking "chicken soup" has done you a lot of good.

:Granted, the contributors may not have the 'credits' that Camus, Marcel et al had....they have something better. They are CONTENT. They understand that life has its ups and downs. Sometimes things are good, sometimes not so good.:

Life is not all bad. I did not say that it is. It is only mostly bad.

:For my part, I have taken the crate that the WBTS shipped to me in my childhood--the Bill of Lading was marked "Crate full of FEAR INTOLERANCE HATRED" and I have marked that bitch:

The WT only teaches you to fear God, country and parents. That is proper. We also tolerate no rivalry to God's name or any practice of sin in our midst. We hate what is bad and love what is good. Maybe you better have your box shipped back.

Being the "unrighteous" child that I was, the one outstanding memory I have is that I was suppose to be DEAD by now.

Hilda aren't you being presumptous, you sign off everything you post Hilda in Christ, do you presume yourself to be better than everyone else, some sort of martyr? You know I"m getting sick of you repeating on each post the same thing as what someone else posted about you. Gee whiz go get a life. Preach to someone else, we've heard it all before. We know what we want and you aren't offering us anything of value, so on that note go to a witness site or another religous site and preach to them. And by the way why don't you really tell us who you are. I think you think you are playing a game in here, but your playing solitaire girl. The jinx is up.

I remember when I was a child and my mom studying the Paradise book with me. The illustrations of Armageddon, earthquakes and everything on fire, all the people dying and falling as the ground shallows them up. This from an organization that preaches love... I am sure that that was very traumatic to me as a young child.

Rubbish. The world is 90 - 95% excellent. That's what I teach my sons. They know that the world will mirror their attitude just as folk on this site have mirrored yours. You came in bringing division and received divisiveness in return. You get back exactly what you put in.
You are so right. You are treated the way you want others to treat you. Wayne Dyer tells the story about how he was walking alone the beach and he ran into a couple. They told him that they had just moved here from a large US city and wanted to know what the people were like in this city. Wayne asked them, What are the people like where you came from? They replied, Oh they were awful people, hard to get along with etc. Wayne responded well people are pretty much like that here to.

He goes on to say of how the very same day he ran into another couple and they said much the same thing about just moving into the area. They ask also asked Wayne, What are the people like here? He again asked, Well what were they like where you came from? They said, Oh they were lovely people, easy to get along with etc. Wayne responded and said well they are pretty much the same here.

The lesson is like you said, You get back exactly what you put in.

One of the biggest fears put into dub children is that they may "Bring reproach" upon the organisation. This is at a time when kids are learning all about pecking orders at school.

Consequently, the average JW dub child will be a hybrid of "Goody-goody" and and nervous twitcher as the child continually tries to balance his upbringing with survival amongst his peers.

Even that great leveller, sport, is out of bounds to witness children, so they can't even expend their frustrations in physical exhertion.

Now there is the strange paradox - we were allowed to play Yahtzee.
Maybe it's because my mum didn't make the connection to Poker - LOL.

    Hilda:
I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you a misandrist?
I only ask because your comments remind me of someone I once knew.

    Eman:
    Great thread.
So much is down to our world view, which can be down to our environment.

Calvin was almost right when he said man is totally depraved. I think man is only mostly depraved.

What a disgusting misanthropic attitude. One of the most horrible and dangerous features of your primitive superstitions is that they take humanity's greatest virtues and turns them into vices. Our sexual appetite,a source of intense pleasure to most healthy adults, is "depravity". Money, the tool with which we improve our world is "the root of all evil". The ability to reason, man's greatest triumph is anathema to them; they say: "just have faith", "don't ask questions", "it's a mystery". This life is considered valueless, to be mortgaged against the promise of eternal "bliss" in a dimension where nobody gets to do the things that make life worth living.
The true depravity is in reducing man to the level of an animal who exists only to serve a barbaric deity. Our greatest acheivement will be when we finally rid ourselves of the credulity of our ancestors and fully embrace rational thought.
