I brought this up a while back (last year some time...can't find the damn post!!)...Has the Watchtower hinted at this yet?
PS I think the reasoning of this is that its 70 years since the closing of the heavenly calling (1934/35). (Baa!!!)

I've been told the last generation will be the ones who witness the 'last days' and is not necessarily the anointed as there are so few left. So it could very well in fact be within another 50 - 100 years...because we are now living in the 'last days' of the bible.
They are talking about us...not the last of the anointed.
Or so my instructor told me...I ask her a hell of alot of questions...
And the reckoning is that jw's WON'T get to every country before the end...just as Jesus didn't get to every province while on earth....
And yet he said "This good news of the kingdom will be preaced in ALL the inhabited earth for a witness to ALL the nations and then the end will come"
Ok, so now I'm confused!
This is what I have so far on this topic. Any submissions to fill out the resarch are always appreciated.

1975 here we go again. The bloody hypocrates why don't they leave the setting of dates to God but even Jesus wouldn't set a date. On the other hand how much of that tired old book can we really beieve anyway.

"I am quite sure now that often, very often, in matters concerning religion and politics a man's reasoning powers are not above the monkey's."
Mark Twain
It would be really good if they do set a new date.

Not to get into any argument or anything, I really would like to know how you rationalize what you were told.
The generation of the last days is which ever generation that happens to be around when the world ends.
What sort of prophesy is this?
That seems kinda obvious dosent it now.
As far as I know it would be reasonable to say that if the last days started in 1914, or any other date for that matter then the generation that sees the culmination of the last days would also have been born around that time and lasted for the entire period of the last days.
But what they are saying is that it dosent matter when the last days started that the generation of the lastdays will be the one that sees the end. Which means that the last days could contain any number generations.
------------------------------------
Last days is signaled by ----> Earthquakes, floods, famine, desiases, immorality at an unprecendted level.
Generation of the last days ---> Is signified by start of the last days.
A Biblical generation ---> 80 years max. [If God wanted to say age instead of generation he could have but he dident.]
But the last days may last longer than than a generation therefore the last days may contain more than one biblical generation.
Where is the prediction?
------------------------------------
This is all so confusing I cant put it all into words.
hope you dont mind me picking your brain too much.
The last Days Is here, it been here Since the Day & Hour of 1914, From 1914 to 2002, Every Sign That Christ talk about has been fulfilled, The Last is in our time- "PEACE & SAFETY" Right now is on a low scale, When it's a World wide thing, Armageddon is on.... < The Messiah Will Return in all his Glory, the Dead will rise, etc... We can look forward to A New Heaven-144,000 & a New Earth-The Rest of mankind-2 CHAPTER 3 verse 13
!!!EVERYBODY ON THIS BOARD SHOULD BOW DOWN DAILY AND THANK JEHOVAH GOD & JESUS CHRIST FOR LETTING US BE A WITNESS TO THE LAST DAYS AND TO KEEP US HID ON THE DAY OF ARMAGEDDON!!!
U2K:
You're getting a bit repetitive.
Maybe you'd like to discuss the 1914 thing in "Beliefs"?
VioletAnai:
There's confusion among them as to whether Mark 13:20 means that there will be "Anointed Ones" left on earth at the end of the tribulation.
Because of this, the "Anointed Ones" issue will remain a problem for them.
Of course the 1935 thing has no chronology behind it, so they may be able to slide it, if they can think of a number to twist.
I was just waiting for U2K to hit this thread
"If men were like their personal ads, they wouldn't need personal ads."
VioletAnai,
Reading my wife's assembly notes from last year informs me that the society is plugging Matthew 24:22, that 'those days' (the tribulation) will be 'cut short on account of the chosen ones.' This means that, according to current light, Armageddon MUST come while some of the anointed are still alive.
It appears that great play was made at the assembly about the fact that most of the remnant are now very old; so Armageddon is once again put inside a time frame when it MUST occur: within the lifetime of very old anointed ones.
I think this is in response to the falling activity of JWs, who simply won’t work as hard unless death and destruction is imminent.
If you want this in writing check out Watchtower, January 15th 2000.
Article title: Keep on the watch. Paragraph 18:
Most of the remnant are quite elderly, and over the years the number of those who are truly anointed has been getting smaller. Yet, referring to the great tribulation, Jesus stated: “Unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.” (Mathew 24:21,22) Evidently, then, some of Christ’s “chosen ones” will still be on Earth when the great tribulation begins.
