Nephew Giving Once-Big-Shot-Elder Financial Aid

My nephew is a graduate of an Alabama university and Harvard.

He didn't listen to the warnings about seeking higher education, and has a good job.

The elder sunk himself trying to keep his son, who did not apply himself in school, out of prison.

It's a sad situation, but it shows how foolish the WT's directives can be.

I bet that story won't show up in an AWAKE! article, snowbird.

    And that's too bad.

    No, of course not, Humbled.

Isn't it something how they can demonize higher education but think nothing of reaping the fruits of someone else's labor.

When I heard of it, I told his mama that he should be sure to point out that he has such a good paying job only because he ignored the WT's discouragement and went on to college.

It just may be the thing to set that elder's mind to thinking.

Where the WTS see higher education in a negative light

We see it as a means to improve your stance in life

    .

    .

Who wants to flipp burgers on a budget they can't pay

bills on for the rest of thier life

    .

    .

Or work at Wal-mart so you can be able to shop at

    Dolly's Dollar Deal

    .

    .

Where you can buy a whole cart full of goods

    for two dollars

    .

    .

    Use at your own risk

    .

    .

    All because the WTS claims

The end will come before you finish graduate school

    LOL at Wuz.

Even though I didn't finish college (fool!), I'm so glad that I worked hard and paid enough into Social Security so that I'm eligible for disability benefits.

Were it not for that, I would be up the proverbial creek.

Some who "put Kingdom interests first," are in a pitiable condition right now.

    snowbird:

The scenario you mentioned above is going to become increasingly common in that religion. (In your case, I am glad you paid into S.S.)

However, helping a blood relative is something some might do (depending, of course, on how they were treated by the relative). Others who were treated abominably might understandably say "No" and tell the relative to take a hike..............The hypocrisy in the religion is sky high and, with their selective memory loss, they imagine people who were criticized for getting college and careers should now "help" everybody with their hand out.

This is not going to go over very well with a lot of people there who may have been criticized for working and I know the feeling.

I am glad I am out of the religion because I would end up being rude if they cornered me asking for money!.......It was bad enough I ran from users who tried to target me to do favors.....This latest thing would be the last straw! I could not be polite to these hypocrites! I am sure they are in full-on desperation mode and have their eyes on anybody there who is barely holding onto their job.

The hard-luck stories and appeals for money must be endless! This is not an environment that anybody would want to be around.

Yeah, I remember when he had a good-paying job with one of the chemical plants down here.

His wife didn't have to work, and they thought they were the shizzle.

There were a select few kids at the KH with whom they allowed their sons to associate - my oldest daughter wasn't one of them.

If they hadn't been so smug and complacent in the past, it would pain me to see them in such desperate straits.

Karma is a witch, isn't it?

If I was DA/d or D/Fd, I would genuinely love to be able to show the shunning clan what genuine Christian love for your fellow human being really looks like!

    Commendations to your loving nephew!

He does have a big heart, Searcher.

It just galls me that his erstwhile critic is now mooching off his generosity.
