If a sign is posted to keep out, beware of dogs, would a JW obey that sign?
In the UK, pioneering , I ignored all those signs. In all those years I once had some dogs running to me and the owner call them off and tell me how lucky I was.
I'm sure though that (and no-one has acknowledged this) that believeing you are safe does in fact protect you. That day when those gaurd dogs cae unning towards me, yes, I stopped walking, but I felt extremely calm, and the dogs pick up on this instinctlively.
There again, I have been called "Dr Doolittle" by my pioneer partner, after telling some dogs to shut up, and they complied.

I'm afraid of dogs, and they know it.

Having grown up around farms, I was never afraid of dogs:
- UNTIL ....... an event occurred, not while engaged in the D2D work, but while working as a delivery driver.
The client was what today would be called a "Convenience Store", and unbeknown to me, kept a man-eating dog on the premises.
Suffice to say, 38 years later, I still have the scars!

PS: Having later worked for a time in the security industry, then later again lived in a crime-ridden Third World Country, I am a great fan of keeping a guard dog. Generally recognised as the single most effective measure that you can take to deter intruders.
I cannot understand people who ignore signs warning about dogs. What part must personal responsibility for one's health and wellbeing play in this?
I also cannot understand dogs attacking JWs - don't these canines know the JWs are genuinely uninterested in preaching to them? Dogs - if you're reading this - chill out man when you see the Witnesses! They mean you absolutely no harm. It's the people who need to be on the watch for the Witnesses - not you.

Do not under-estimate the difference in culture here between the UK and US, which is as stark as the difference in gun control. We don't have tresspass laws in the UK. You pretty much have the freedom to roam. Just like we have freedoom to live without guns. ;)
So, it was very unusual to have a guy ranting, "didn't you see the sign?" like it was my fault. ;)
