Typical WT. Don't support it's elders if they get caught following WT policy, disfellowship them if they don't.

How true. Hopefully more & more elders will wake up and get their families out of the Watchtower. The whole organization is like a pyramid mulit-level marketing scam. Use your own money & vehicle expenses to buy WT literature to distribute. Donate your money whenever the Governing Body says they have a need. Now, the Watchtower is not willing to legally back you if a lawsuit is brought forth by someone against you, because you were following Watchtower policy? Smart elders will figure this scam out and get out of this bat-shit crazy, family destroying, dysfunctional religion.

Wow! It sounds as if you have just punched a hole in the mighty wall of disfellowshipping!
If any judicial matter involves a potential sexual crime, you have leverage against the elders. Do they want to spend nights and weekends on a committee matter that could involve liability? Lawsuits? Criminal investigations? Threats against their assets?

Well, I am sure that our resident Elders will keep us informed. I believe that we have all been predicting this outcome for some time. The WTBTS is a Coporation, a living entity. It must be protected at all times. Elders are just managers. If you are an Elder, you are expendable. What if you stalk someone to catch them doing something wrong, and they call the police? What if you tell someone they can't give their child blood, and the child dies? What if you DF someone and they sue YOU for defamation of character, or emotional damage??
Is the WTBTS going to have your back? Elders, you will soon be even more powerless than you currently are. You will be hamstrung, cut off at the knees, your hands will be tied. You may be an Elder just so the WTBTS has someone to take the fall! They will burn you. You will be afraid to give counsel to anyone. Still the WT will tell you that you are a DUKE, and you must care for the flock. Think of the dissonance that this will create. " I want to df them so bad, but I am afraid!! Help me C.O!" LOL!!!

One of the reasons I no longer wanted to be an elder is because the Society told us that we were on our own. Nothing new to me.

I would confide in any elder who would listen to me that they should carry clergy insurance. That should make them think twice.
