We used to call it the "Pioneer Shuffle" here on JWN, Piosneers had learned how to stretch out the hours, the ordinary JW used to go at a reasonable, if slightly slow, pace.

But it seems that now it is a general habit for all JW's , contact as few peope as possible before its OTS time. (Off to Starbucks).

I spied a couple the other day, I was parked up, reading the Newspaper, while waiting for Mrs Phizzy to come out of the shop, so I had plenty of time to observe, they did not see me, (good 'coz I knew them well).

This couple drew up in their car, wandered around to the Trunk/Boot and proceded to take about ten minutes sorting out their memorial invite tracts.

I guess they had started their time somewhere else, so this protracted counting of tracts all went on the end of month report, they then walked off slowly, heads down talking to eachother, and ignoring shoppers coming out of the store, as they made their way to some houses a couple of hundred yards down the road.

The snail covered in salt was miles away by then.

wasblind: They seem to be stuck in an 'overlapping(tm)' loop of circilar reaoning that's spiralling down and down. Poor beggars.

" The message that the Witnesses proclaim involves the lives of people; they want to be careful to miss no one ."____Reasoning book pge 206

LOL. Jehovah's Witnesses would do well if they took note from the secular

If the talked about goals in terms of activity, lets say talking to 100 people, they whould get to the quota within 15 minutes. You would see them running between doors.

    .

LOL......you have Watchtower District Sales Overseer potential. Oh wait.....that wouldn't be a good career move with the Watchtower getting ready to lay them all off.

i recall--back in the 60's--being told by a circuit servant : it was ok to knock a door--near home--first thing in the morning--then travel to whomever's house we were meeting at---then on to the map we were working. so the first 90 minutes was clocked up like that. this was when i was a regular pioneer ( =100 hours a month back then )

also--when it was my turn to visit the KH--in the cold of winter--to light up the old coal burning boiler for the cast iron radiators--this was a good 2 hours worth.

and driving to the neighbouring congregation servants house to collect each fortnights load of magazines off the bethel lorry. and stay for lunch. ( i was the mags/territory servant )

if it was raining--or even looked like it might--then it was time spent in a snooker hall--or 10 pin bowling alley.

i could go on--but--i think we all did similar. i made a nice little earner out of my magazine route--as a pioneer back then--we paid one penny each for the mags--and sold them for four pence each. the profit ran my car.

    Its called stretching the time/hours.

Spending long coffee breaks is another similar tactic.

A young pous-sneer told me that the way they 'counted time(tm)' was to take the hours of the time they set out to the time they went home and knock an hour off for lunch.

Amazing! Exactly as it says in the bible

They count time because they want to get the illusion that they are busy. If they keep the r&f busy they won't think.

Two things the first century Gospel preachers didn't do in comparison to what the WTS./JWS does today.

One they didn't have literature to sell and the other they didn't have to hand in monthly service

reports stated how many pieces of literature they sold or how many hours they spent preaching door to door.

    .

The Watchtower Publishing house acts not in accordance toward the first century preachers

and has no bible scriptures to back up what they actually do do.

    Those lying deceitful charlatans.

I know we had 'the pioneer walk(tm)' back in the day but puh-leeeeeeeze! These JWs were being outrun by a slug covered in salt.

LOL. It is distinctive, isn't it? The more so as an 'outsider' looking in.

Householders who come to the door interrupt the pleasant chit-chat and catching up the brothers and sisters are doing. The longer between doors the better.
