Which Conspiracy Theory Should You Believe?

Why should it require coordinated genius to create a successful conspiracy if there is no punishment or serious consequence triggered by its discovery?

How many big bankers have been prosecuted? (PBS answers -none) In Britain, Jimmy Savile evidently molested hundreds of children, across decades while powerful people in the BBC and Scotland Yard knew. How did that happen?

Is Rumsfeld or Cheney or Bush in jail? Is Bush currently more popular than Obama? Does the public care about a war that wasted the resources that could help them with healthcare or employment or given them a better life?

In the war in Afghanistan, how many people knew that Afghan leaders (across the police, the army and government) keep boys for sexual purposes? That it is a custom in Afghanistan? Called "bacha"? and that British troops there were disgusted with dealing with it?

How many Americans even know...... how many students who study history in college know .... that the US may have barely avoided a military coup in the 1930's - as investigated by Congress and attested to by a famous general?

Suppose Congress passes one of the most complex and lengthy bills in its history that none of them ever bothered to read - while the Speaker of the House tells them to vote for it , "to find out what's in it"?

The matter is 'upside down' - conspiracies may be the primary product of government.

Pardon me if conspriacy theorists particularly annoy me.

Conspiracy theorists have many tools, but two of the most common are pointing out the incosinstencies associated with official accounts and media reports immediately following an incident and blaming the government, typically without any factual data whatsoever. Take a look at this media account (you can google it), as it captures unintentionally the exact mindset employed by theorists:

"The official account of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting[1] has been disputed by a number of conspiracy theories. It is widely accepted that on December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza fatally shot his mother, and 20 students and 6 staff members, at the elementary school before committing suicide.[2] Proponents of these conspiracy theories question the circumstances of the shooting with Adam Lanza as the sole perpetrator by using early media reports that included inconsistencies about the identity of the shooter, wrong photos, incorrect location of victims, [3] weapons used[4] and other alleged misinformation[5][6] as evidence for their claims.

And suggesting the shooting was orchestrated by government officials for political reasons,[7] similar to some 9/11 conspiracy theories which many also promote the theories alleging government involvement in the attack claim that it was set up to push stricter gun control laws."

Media accounts and reports from 'offiicials' and those on the scene immediately following any crisis will rarely be correct. Well meaning people are trying to make sense of the carnage before them and provide information, consolation, etc. to others and once a microphone or camera is placed before them will try to do so. They are well intentioned.

    Number 2:

Haven't the Republicans and theorists ever heard of capatilism? If I'm a maker of bullets, I'm ramping up production and/or buying from others to meet the demand. If the DHS was doing this (and they aren't) it is a very short term sure to fail strategy. Effing DUH.

April 2013, Republicans embrace conspiracy theory that DHS is buying up ammo

"James Inhofe and Jim Jordan believe the Obama Administration is trying to curb access to bulletsOklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and Rep. Frank Lucas have introduced a bill that would prohibit every government agency — except the military — from buying more ammunition each month, than the monthly average it purchased from 2001 to 2009.

The lawmakers say the Obama administration is buying up exceedingly high levels of ammunition in an attempt to limit the number of bullets the American public have access to on the open marketplace."

Number 3 and my personal all-time favorite. I don't think I need to add anything to this - or even post anything other than the heading - except to note that Ms. O'Donnel is an actress and NOT a PhD in blast engineering or a structural engineer (I work with several).

    May 16, 2007 - 9/11 conspiracy theorists rally around Rosie O'Donnell.

    OK I"m through. For now.

What about the USS Liberty incident and allegations of NATO bombing Egypt during the six day war and the corresponding "accidental deaths" of various NATO pilots for a period six months after the war after going on active lock down (no personal correspondence) while the war was happening? Commonly refered to in the west as "the big lie" conspiracy theory?

I understand your frustration. There is a lot of really awful conspiracy theory stuff out there (see BeforeItsNews) - however, such junk only helps to conceal REAL conspiracies by broadcasting confusion.

Put yourself in my shoes: I carefully watched live coverage of the Boston Bombing and was coincidentally working with a media company at the time.

My jaw kept dropping as I observed one lie or inconsistency after another - by public officials. The most glaring (to me) were:

    1) Major networks broadcast live coverage (complete with audible shots) of a "gunbattle" with a young man who had no gun!

    2) The FBI put out posters or photos as if the identities of the two men were unknown. CBS then reported that the mother of the two went ballistic- "you've known and followed my son for five years!"

    3) Despite many photos of an obvious paramilitary group with equipment that appeared at the site just before the bomb went off, the FBI refused to answer questions about them in a live televised interview.

    4) The Sunday NY Times published accusations that the FBI was responsible for most domestic terrorist events by encouraging and setting up people in "sting" operations.

As for Newtown, I doubt we'll ever know the whole truth.

I think that many of these conspiracy theories are having great success in distracting people from what is really happening.

    Isaiah 8:11-13

For this is what Jehovah has said to me with strongness of the hand, that he may make me turn aside from walking in the way of this people, saying: 12 "YOU men must not say, ‘A conspiracy!’ respecting all that of which this people keep saying, ‘A conspiracy!’ and the object of their fear YOU men must not fear, nor must YOU tremble at it. 13 Jehovah of armies—he is the One whom YOU should treat as holy, and he should be the object of YOUR fear, and he should be the One causing YOU to tremble."

Just some comments on the conspiracy theories.

Men on moon - Other than the videos and photos seeming fake, I find it hard to believe how quickly they were able to send man to moon after proposing the idea in 1961 then making it happen in 1968-1969, HOWEVER to do it again it was announce a few years ago to be able to do it the goal is to have it done within 12 years. Over 50 years later it takes longer to do something that supposedly had already been done than the first time. That just adds more credibility that it hasn't been done.

As for reptilian, I don't believe in that but I do find it interesting about the serpent speaking to Eve, dinosaurs, etc, I couldn't mark off as completely impossible that a more intelligent reptilian life hadn't existed but there is no evidence.

As for those who say conspiracy theories are all fake, those people are deluded.

That's like saying that Rutherford didn't conspire to take over the WT.

Or that men in power and in the government don't conspire to make $ off of getting into politics.

When I was I kid, I always loved magic shows. My favorite part was when the magician said, "look there's nothing in my hand". And that's when I immediately turned my attention to his other hand and/or assistant. It became obvious what was going on.

Tha's my summation on conspiracy theories...too many people are caught watching that empty hand.
